Motor Lodge style. Friendly staff. Peter was very helpful. Clean rooms, retro decor. Perfect location. Quick 2 minute walk to Carlee’s for the bar scene. Also next to a nice grocery store. Highly recommend.

We stayed here with our kids on the way to Julian and spent some time enjoying the pool and the outdoor patio area. We had a relaxing and quiet stay; spent out day decompressing and admiring the desert atmosphere. Awesome location, views of the mountains, and lovely comfortable rooms. We stayed in one of the motel rooms but would definitely consider renting a casita for a longer stay, they look cute and private. Thank you!

I had a lovely stay in one of the recently-renovated Casitas. The plush inner spring king bed was very comfortable, and the pillows are good for side sleepers. The unit was clean and cozy, with lots of natural sunlight if you opt to open the blackout curtains.

There is an air conditioner situated right between the bedroom and the living room, so it is possible to cool both rooms at the same time. There is no door to separate the bedroom from the living space.

There is a quaint kitchen which has a half-sized electric stove with oven. The retro-style fridge is new, but unfortunately never got cold enough even on the highest setting. The freezer is plenty cold, however. There is also a smaller microwave and an 8-cup coffee maker. Cookware and utensils are basic. Silverware and dishes are enough for four place settings.

The shower has great pressure and can get rather hot if that's to your liking. You do share a wall with another Casita next door, but I never once heard my neighbor. For entertainment, all you have is a Bluetooth radio speaker.

There is no TV, which was missed. I understand that the area will most likely attract nature-loving guests, but I find it a disservice to not feature a television in the property. After all, one could simply decide not to use it, but those who do would be well-served. Fortunately, WiFi is available and is fast enough to stream movies on at least one device.

There is a front porch at each Casita which features two chairs and a small table for lounging. The location is very convenient to area restaurants and two nearby markets. There is an ice machine that is located near the front desk.

There is an outdoor communal space with plenty of lounge seating, cafe lights for ambience, a fire pit and a grill for cooking. In the front desk lobby, there is a small billiards table. There is also a good sized pool that is 8 ft deep on one end with chaise chairs situated in the shaded area.

To note: there are lots of insects in the area, and often times I would encounter large spiders and crickets inside my unit. I never felt unsafe, and it was very quiet at night. The lobby has operating hours and is not staffed all day and night. I didn't arrive until after the lobby had closed, but the lovely staff had arranged for me to get into my unit regardless. Housekeeping is available when desired. Checkout was simple. Overall, I had a wonderful stay at the Hacienda Del Sol.

We stayed this past weekend at Hacienda Del Sol. The property is undergoing updating . The casita that we stayed in was a really comfortable size and laid out really well. I loved having the kitchenette. Loved sitting out on the patio with afternoon drinks and morning coffee. Had a great view of the mountains. Decor is very clean and modern. Furnishings are not plush but they are new . The staff is really helpful and responsive. They really make the place. We plan to return. The location is central , so you can walk to the market, next door for an espresso or a restaurant for dinner but the gardens are laid out nicely so you still feel like you are in the desert.

My wife and I stayed at the Hacienda Del Sol on a short getaway trip to Borrego Springs. We booked one of the Casita units. The units are situated in duplexes along a driveway that encircle the common areas of the property (pool, sitting areas, etc.). The entire property has a retro theme, which we really liked.

The units and surrounding areas are well maintained. Our unit was great, with nice furnishings, lots of space and a very comfortable living room. The bathroom was nicely updated and the kitchen was fully equipped and more than adequate. Although we only had a short stay, this would be a great place to set-up a home base for a longer adventure in the Anza Borrego park.

The Hacienda is also near the center of town, so restaurants, stores, art parks and the main community park are a short walk. There was a festive farmers market in the community park (which runs November through April as we were told). We also visited the very interesting giant metal sculptures at Galletta Meadows, which is only 2 miles from the motel.

We would definitely recommend a stay at the Hacienda Del Sol and a visit to Borrego Springs.

We loved our stay at Hacienda Del Sol and the surrounding area. The motel was redone in 2023 with charm, keeping some of the cool features from 1947 but creating a feeling of cool. We enjoyed swimming and playing in the pool, shuffleboard, horseshoes, etc. They also had a great space for a cookout. In some ways it felt like stepping back to a simpler time.

The surrounding state park is amazing, the size of Rhode Island, it completely surrounds the town. We went to a butte to overlook some badlands and hike through slot canyons that rivaled those in Utah national parks. We saw bighorn sheep, coyotes, a race of roadrunners, and lots of other fascinating things. We want to come back and spend more time in this state park.

The cafe across the street served some of the best Eggs Benedict I've ever had (I had the version with jalapeno peppers). There was also some great shopping nearby, from an outfitter shop to vintage shops to a shop of old treasures. We found more and varied shops than I'd have imagined.

There are so many places to see in the world, we often don't plan to return to places, but this is a motel and area I'd like to come back to and spend more time.

Very old, but updated rooms in the dessert. We had a nice stay in the motel side of the complex. Recently updated and that was a big plus. Beds were comfortable. In room coffee, a small refrigerator, but no desk or chairs in the room. Bath is older too and the shower requires bending over since the head is quite low. Staff was no too present, but those we did see were very friendly and helpful. The room do have a hard cement floor which helps keep the room cool, but also your feet cool. The air conditioner was finicky so we needed to adjust it several times. Internet is good. No dresser, but large closet. Right across from the mall which has a lot to see and dine. Nice swimming pool. We liked it, but know it's funky, your might be on your own when the staff is not present, but they are clean, reasonable and A-OK.
