I found myself in a jam after crewing a catamaran delivery from St Maarten to Bahamas. Sailors don't make as much and with my tight budget, and last minute search was surprised to find Harold's House! At $60 a night I was impressed with the size of the house, the amenities offered, and having spent four years globeteotting around, mostly through SE Asia, the complimentary coffee/tea, new flip flops in the room, a an awesome mini freezer! TV, cable, excellent wifi that he also had been through Thailand, and he has never been. So when I tell you this place is worth it, it is! His family is very chill, the pace is clean, yes the bathrooms are shared, however clean, large, bright. Other families and individuals rent it rooms and I was relieved that it was still quiet at night. Excellent modern complimentary laundry/dryer, bottles of water, and if you party with his younger son, make sure he doesn't lock you out on the patio! 😉😎 Lol! Highly recommend it and if I need to be on the down low between yacht jobs, Harold's House is where it's at!

The house is in a gated community and Harold and his family are lovely people but the accommodation was not as expected. The room is small and the furniture looked like something from a second hand Store. No air conditioning room hot and uncomfortable. The private bathroom is across the hallway and dining room and appeared to be converted from a cupboard no room at all and absolutely no privacy. Parking is a nightmare. Wouldn’t recommend

Firstly you have to get past the security at the gate. Despite letting Harold know we were on our way the security team at the gate behaves like the CIA. Question after question. |When we arrived our room was very small cramped and furnished with what looked like furniture from a reclamation yard. The private bathroom is a just cupboard converted into a shower and toilet with no room to move. It’s also across from the dining, kitchen and hallway from the bedroom so absolutely NO privacy. |No air conditioning so it was very hot and uncomfortable. Quite noisy too with people coming and going. We left the next morning and booked into a hotel. |Nowhere to park as the owners cars are on the drive and you can’t park on the road otherwise you will get towed or ticketed. |Harold and his daughter are very friendly but the accommodation was not as expected or as advertised on Booking.com |
