John and Jim are amazing hosts! My husband and I went to Galena for our first visit ever and had the best accommodations at Hawk Valley! The room, house and barn where breakfast was served were so clean and comfortable. They really know how to make anyone feel welcome and comfortable! The sweet treats after breakfast were perfect for a mid day snack! We will definitely be back so we can explore more of their property during warmer months!

We loved our stay at Hawk Valley. It was so peaceful. The bed was more comfortable than my own. The views were breathtaking. Jim and John are amazing hosts. The breakfast and the treats they provided during our stay was absolutely amazing!!! I highly recommend staying at Hawk Valley!

We spent three days at Hawk Valley and our stay could not have been nicer! The scenery in the area is beautiful, and our cottage was very comfortable. John and Jim are wonderful hosts, friendly, and helpful. And the breakfasts were unique and delicious! We had a wonderful visit and look forward to going back.

Our Hawk Valley visit was a gift from our daughter...we hadn't heard of it. Once we arrived, we saw the special setting and we warmly greeted by John. This is a very person experience for each couple as Jim and John are personally involved in the experience. Breakfasts were a culinary delight, with special attention to any dietary needs. And the homemade cookies and caramels were delicious!|Jim and John made our visit a true get-away. We felt welcomed and appreciated. This is a great place to observe wildlife, hike or just sit on the porch and relax. We intend to return for another relaxing visit.|Thank you, Jim and John

Second time for us and definitely there will be return visits. Would like to check out all seasons. A virtual bird sanctuary with wonderful views everywhere. Breakfasts are phenomenal! Hosts Jim and John are so cordial and welcoming! The surrounding area of driftless topography is surreal. Great time!

It was so wonderful to be back at Hawk Valley Retreat & Cottages! This place truly feels like a home away from home. The beautiful blanket of snow this time around made the entire retreat feel like a winter wonderland. Sitting by the fire in our cozy cottage, watching the snow gently fall outside, was pure magic.||||As always, the breakfasts were absolutely delicious—each morning started with a hearty, homemade meal that kept us warm and happy all day long. And of course, John and Jim’s hospitality was second to none. Their warm welcome and thoughtful touches made our stay even more special.||||Hawk Valley continues to be the perfect peaceful escape, no matter the season, but there’s something truly special about it in the snow. Already dreaming about our next visit!

We use many B&Bs in our travels and Hawk Valley absolutely ranks among the best. From charming, well-kept and nicely appointed cottages nestled among the pines on acres of solitude, to tasty (and award winning!) multi-course breakfasts, to daily treats of homemade cookies ... all managed by consummate hosts John and Jim. It's ideally located only 10 minutes from the quaint and historic town of Galena and all it has to offer. Five stars plus!!!

Can't say enough great things about this place! Our cottage was very clean and relaxing. Each breakfast was delicious. Best bacon and scone I've ever had. Owners are very hospitable while also respecting guests' privacy. Wish I would have known about this place sooner; we will definitely be back!
