Great place to stop and check out! Plenty of space to park, sign the guest book, and check out the old farming equipment. Flat area to walk around, nice break from driving if going past on near this site, space for dog to walk too.

A must-see when you’re in the area. Truth be told, if you are expecting a mountain with scenic views for miles, then you may be disappointed. Recommended for those that enjoy “quirky” tourist spots and have a sense of humor. We walked around with big smiles during our entire visit, and enjoy bragging about having visited Iowa’s highest point.

Quite fun. Amazing scenic views. Being the highest point in all of Iowa, you can see for what appears to be miles. To top it off, there is a fantastic walk through museum and multiple historic pieces of farm equipment . A must see if you’re nearby. Better than a lot of the scenic views you can see even in places like Colorado. And any vehicle can make it up the road to get there.

Has quite the strange experience at Hawkeye Point... when we arrived there was a house nearby on fire! We were shocked nobody was paying attention. But eventually when we called the county non-emergency line they told us it was a controlled fire. Anyways, quite strange. This high point definitely has its share of infrastructure- fun stop on a road trip.

Look — I don’t know many people who would put any Iowa state park on their top 100 for “must see” or “most beautiful”. That said, I really appreciate what Iowa state parks do to try and make it fun and interesting. This little sign here at Hawkeye Point with a ledge for people to put their phone on for selfies was a really nice and thoughtful touch.
As long as you aren’t expecting a massive waterfall or awe inspiring mountain range, this park checks all the boxes. It’s surrounded by some nice meadows (with beautiful wildflowers in the summer), well maintained with informational signage, is across from a campground, features shelter for rainy days, and is an easy quick stop right off the highway.

This gets five stars because of the beautiful landscaping and upkeep. The day we were here they were about to lay the foundation for a gazebo. There is aboard with license plates from many of the states. The one from Oklahoma was given by a friend of mine a few years back who has since passed away from cancer. So the picture is for his wife and kids.

There are also signposts to the other high Points with the mileage it takes to get there.

There is a “museum” barn as well as some old farm equipment on display.

And a camp sure close by with restrooms, showers, and a dump station.

Beautiful country! Just off highway 60 on private land. Huge sign at drive says visitors welcome. Projects with 4H documented, benches and observation deck built by old silo. There is a county campground across the road that has restrooms.

A must for highpointers, this is a nice little place to stretch your legs. No need for supplemental oxygen or crampons, this one is a parking lot high point. A spot in a field that is imperceptibly higher than the surrounding area, it has other fun stuff to make up for its lack of majesty.
