Joseph was awesome to fish with! He knew all the spots and what to throw and when. Even on a “slow” day he consistently put us on fish and we got them in the boat, and he got me the striper I was hoping for. His boat was also spacious, clean, comfortable and well maintained. Nice electronics, equipment and tackle as well. Will book him again for sure!

We all had an amazing time! The bite wasn’t too great this time of year but our guide was very knowledgeable and was still able to put everyone in our group on to some amazing fish. Look forward to going out with them again during the summer!

If you’re looking for a great time on the lake as well as the opportunity to catch a lot of fish, then Captain Joseph is your guy! The temperature is hot right now, but so is the bite. I’m new to Allatoona Lake and kinda new to fishing, but Captain Joseph was very friendly and informative about the lake and his techniques and he put us on a lot of fish. It was a wonderful day with my family and my new friend Cap’n Joe! We will definitely be booking again soon.

We had a great day fishing with Capt. Joseph, he worked very hard to put us on some fish! I knew the bite would be slow due to season and weather recently, but he made sure we got a shot at a bit of everything! To top it off he stayed on the water with us past our limit so I could check out some gar, which he knew I really wanted to see. All around great conversation as well. 10/10

On 10/2/22, my brother Stone Phillips took me and 2 other friends out on a half day, 4 hour fishing trip on Lake Altoona with our wonderful fishing guide Joe! We arrived at 6:45 and after a warm welcome, some safety requirements and fishing instructions, we were on our way to our first fishing hole. We could not have asked a more beautiful morning! The temperature was perfect, barely any breeze as hurricane Ian moved through the day before and made for an unforgettable sunrise! See pics! Unfortunately, the fish were not hungry that morning but Joe knew exactly where to takes us so that everyone on the boat got an opportunity to reel one in. We caught white bass, large mouth bass and a nice catfish. Because of the fact that is was a slow fishing day, Joe allowed us to continue far past our alloted "half-day" time limit. We could all feel that Joe wanted us to catch fish just as much as we did which is a prime example of his professionalism, all-round great attitude, witty personality and desire to show us a great time and catch fish!
I consider myself an amateur photographer and I asked Joe if he ever sees any bald eagles on Lake Altoona. Well, to my surprise, he said he had seen one or two recently and knew about where a nest was. As we were on our way to one of his fishing spots, he points to a huge eagle soaring a few feet above the water and not far from us, and yells "Billy! There's your eagle!" It was one of the most awesome sights I've ever seen in 55 years!
There is no doubt who I'm going to ask for my next guided fishing trip! Thank-You Joe and Heron Outdoors for a spectacular day on Lake Altoona!

What an amazing time we had with Joseph Martinelli with Heron Outdoor Adventures. We had a blast and were lucky enough to catch the fish of our dreams. A monster. Thank you Joseph for creating this memory we will always cherish. The one that didn’t get away. Well at least we caught it and then released for future fishermen. Joseph is very knowledgeable made us feel like family.
