This was a fantastic base for our combo work retreat and central Connecticut exploration trip. The house is great, the grounds are beautiful, and Clark is an amazing host. We spent our first morning working and reading in the idyllic meadow filled with wildflowers and surrounded by trees. Thank you for everything!

Clark made our stay wonderful! They provided breakfast, coffee and even made us cookies. The house is very large, basically a mansion from the 1800s. Anyone interested in history will have their jaw on the floor at the history of this house. The beds were super comfortable. We both haven’t slept batter. Clark is an interesting guy. The home has lots of character. We will definitely be staying here again if we come back to the area.

Very glad we stayed at Clark’s home very well laid out. Not quite the house that I had been in when I was a classmate of Clark’s, it has been fixed up very well . We had our gender reveal here🩷🩵.. We were so lucky to find such a beautiful place last minute.. Clark was incredibly amazing, and more than accommodating host! he even made cookies for us.. My husband and I definitely plan on visiting again🙌🏾❤️

Clark, our host, was there to greet us as we parked. There was a sunny peaceful garden view from our first floor corner room, which included a large, beautifully tiled ensuite. The surprise of freshly baked gingerbread was so welcoming. The quiet, relaxed atmosphere and comfortable beds ensured that we had a restful and refreshinhg weekend. A great B & B that we would love to visit again.

Worst place ever! I booked the rooms the day before and drove up there the next day..its not self check in- he hovers over you..upon arrival noticed the outside seriously degraded, then upon entering, was overwhelmed with mold smell, furniture and tie dye pieces of cloth over furniture, then proceeded up the stairs to 3 old bedrooms, with collapsing mattresses, as well as a floor that is extremely slanted, due to structural issues. I could hardly breathe, I thanked Clark and told him it was impossible to stay there, and requested a refund, he said he would check...then wrote me that his policy is no refunds before 14 day notice, I have registered a dispute with my credit card, and called the city Health dept, they knew all about his racket...the photos are a fraud! AVOID. I wasn't able to get inside photos due to him hovering over me..AC units in windows old and moldy!..AVOID at all costs

This is a wonderful Bed and Breakfast in the historic town of Higganum CT. The property is surrounded by historic homes, beautiful natural scenery, and a general New England atmosphere. I have stayed here during three summers, and the Spirit of 76 house has acted as a home away from home. ||||The hosts are very gracious and the space is simple but elegant. It feels lived in and very much a part of family history. There are multiple rooms, and I have stayed both upstairs and downstairs. The bathrooms are up to date and the beds are comfortable. The rooms also have window a/c for use during the summer.||||The open room where breakfast is served is out of a different time. It feels like a historic sitting room, or larger dining room. The ceilings are high and the table is large. There are books about the area, a very cool old stereo with interesting records, and a nice fireplace. Breakfast is available, the dishes are clean, and the coffee machine is always ready to rock. The whole space feels like a home and the character is quite charming.||||The property is beautiful and there is a nice reservoir a short walk away. The whole house has a quaint feel despite its large size, and the B&B offers a quiet getaway in the middle of a truly wonderful area.
