We found the room to be very clean and comfortable! The staff was matter of fact but friendly. The room key is a real key, unlike the plastic security cards used by chain hotels. The TV was an old tube TV, but worked fine. The room had a small microwave and frig which was nice! We didn't try the breakfast. All in all, an enjoyable stay!

It’s an unmanned motel cutting cost and increasing profit by using Airbnb to do their paperwork and check in process. I’ve stayed a few times and not once has it taken me less than 1 hour from time of reservation, untill I get the door code. No physical room keys because it’s unmanned, which bothers me. If I’m paying $100 I don’t want to have to sit there and wait for a door code for an hour, and have no one on site that works there.

This is a hotel, not an Airbnb. So we pay the same, we get less, and you make more. It’s just a slap in the face if you ask me.

This hotel was a pleasant surprise to find in small town Iowa. Far better than others I've stayed at. Better than many of the larger chain hotels. The lobby was clean with a modern decor. The staff was very friendly.

What keeps me from giving it 5 stars is the room absolutely reeked of stale cigarette smoke. The bathroom was clean, but the shower curtain was filthy.

We will definitely stay here again, but will definitely request a different room.

We were treated very well at the Hometown Guesthouse. It's a nice, new motel kept immaculately clean, with free wifi. Comfortable beds and plenty of nice soft towels. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and went above and beyond what was required to help us out. There's a simple continental breakfast included. For those wanting a bit more, a truckstop nearby sells a tasty slice of breakfast pizza for $2. ||||There aren't a lot of lodging choices nearby, thank goodness for Hometown Guesthouse!

Hometown Guesthouse was perfect for our needs. We were in the area visiting family in Cherokee and Remsen so the location was spot on between both towns. It is conveniently located right off the highway and was very clean and quiet. The room also had a refrigerator which was nice to have available. The breakfast was simple which included fruit, oatmeal, yogurt, a variety of breads each day, cereal, Pop tarts, coffee, milk, and juice. As someone else mentioned there is a gas station and restaurant across the road if you want eggs or a little more. The friendly staff made us feel right at home. We will definitely be staying here again.

We had a wedding in Marcus and the whole crew from Louisiana stayed at the Hometown Guesthouse. A wonderful stay! The girls working there are SO FRIENDLY and helpful for needs of guests. We laughed and joked together! More like friends the hotel staff. The beds were super comfortable; I slept like a baby! Thanks so much!!!

Clean, comfortable beds. Pillows could of been thicker. Went to check in and no one around. Gave gal cash to pay right away and I had to tell her how much change I was to get back. Got in room and there hung a used towel hanging on bathroom door. Went for breakfast at 7:10 again no one around. Called the number at desk as there was nothing ready. Gentleman comes down but sounded Ilike I woke him up. He got some milk for some cereal and made some coffee. No juice to drink so just toast. Disappointed when we had a 4 hour drive to head home.

Extremely dirty carpets in room. Front desk attendant not available after 10 minutes of standing at the desk and Rang the bell 4 times. Room service did not replace any of the towels used the previous day. Heater/air unit in room was not working right.. Bed blanket had cuts and tears on it and it had grease marks in it. Water tasted like it had been sitting in a metal drum for days.
