I loved staying at Hotel Marcel. This architectural gem (don't forget to check out Breuer's staircase details) is beautifully restored. It's passive house (meaning it's extremely energy efficient) and LEED platinum certified. Besides other things, this means that the air you breathe in there is 100% fresh air. The entire building is all electric etc. My room and all the design details were beautiful. The windows are triple pane, meaning you cannot hear a single sound, at all, despite the fact that the highway is there, making the experience quite cinematic with the view of the water behind it. The place is very clean and neat as well.||Just one thoughtful detail i appreciated was that this hotel offers filtered water (still and sparkling), free of charge. There's a glass bottle in the room and can be filled up at a water fill station by the elevators. I very much dislike having to get a bunch of plastic bottles just to be able to hydrate and throw them away. ||Customer service was excellent! Luis at the front desk accommodated my requests to fit my needs for this stay and was so welcoming and caring. The hotel also sends you a text so you can communicate with the staff that way if you prefer to. Everyone else at the front desk and the restaurant were really lovely as well.||I'm a fan of Hotel Marcel.

Great staff with lovely attitude and so friendly. Even though it’s only 1 state away from NY, the attitude is like night and day compared to most hotels in NY State|We had an interior light well room and it was so quiet. Those rooms are larger and even had nice comfy sofa behind a work counter.|All lighting can be controlled near bed. Very convenient.|This was once a tire factory on bottom two floors with offices upstairs|The original building was designed by Marcel Breuer but whoever converted it to a hotel did a super job in keeping with the early 70’s design style. It was not tacky, just tastefully modern retro.|Parking is free. It is located adjacent to IKEA right off I-95. While it is not near the University, it is still only 5 minutes away by car.

Beautiful hotel! Very clean and very modern. Check-in was fast and workers are very nice and helpful. When they handed me the room key, I noticed that it was made out of wood, which I’ve never seen before so it was pretty cool. They also have a bar/restaurant with great different varieties of drinks and food. The rooms have high tech amenities for the thermostat, lights and blinds. The room was a little small, but we stayed there only to sleep so it didn’t really matter. I loved everything about it! 🤩 if I’m ever around the area again, I would definitely stay at this hotel.

This hotel is really nice and clean. Its design is wonderful. The hotel service team is really nice and friendly. Also, if you arrive at the Train station, you could call their free shuttle service (it is operated by 15:00). The hotel lounge is wide and very cozy. We regret staying only one night at the New Heaven. It is really a recommendable hotel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!The room is also awesome. You can enjoy the harbor view in your cozy room!!! If I return to travel New Heaven, I will definitely choose this hotel.

This is a unique building and location for lodging in New Haven. It’s a nice set up, and has a restaurant and bar in the lobby. The rooms are comfortable, but smaller as this is a repurposed building. Everything is new and fresh. Only complaint I had was that the temperature control wasn’t the best. Only goes down to 67, and feels like it never gets there. Interesting room controls and cool blinds (opaque and blackout) and good views. Free parking on site, and easy on/off from 95 and 91. Note that breakfast is NOT included in your room rate, and is SUPER expensive.

Another great visit to Hotel Marcel. Stayed for 2 nights and couldn’t ask for a better experience. The hotel is conveniently located right off I-95 in New Haven. From Natalie at the front desk to Stacey at the Bar, it was another great stay. This has been my go to hotel whenever I’m in the area since they opened. Rooms are spotless and well appointed. Food and drinks at the restaurant are beyond the expectations! No need to leave the hotel for meals. Looking forward to returning!

We stayed at the hotel for a week while visiting our daughter, who is studying nearby. We loved the modern style, cleanliness, simplicity, and comfort of our room, as well as the friendliness of the staff. We appreciated its commitment to sustainability and its history. We took a little tour of the hotel.

We were on the eighth floor and had a great view of the harbor.

We enjoyed some drinks in the evening made by an experienced bartender and some food. However, in the morning we bought takeaway coffee twice and the service was quite slow. On one occasion, I waited 20 minutes from ordering coffee to actually receiving it and making payment. It was slightly frustrating, considering there was only one person in front of me.

We had the best October weather we could have asked for, so we appreciated the cooling system. However, it takes a long time to cool down, and you can only set it as low as 67°F. We were slightly too hot with the beautiful sun shining through our windows in the morning.

Overall we had a good experience. We will definitely be back. Thank you!

This is a review of the restaurant at Hotel Marcel. I met a friend for breakfast there a few days ago. Ordered the breakfast sandwich and requested it be w scrambled egg. Sandwich comes out w fried egg over hard. I find fried eggs gross and can’t eat them. There were 2-3 other tables in the place so the waitress wasn’t slammed. My friend had them take it back and make it with a scrambled egg. Out came the same sandwich with the same egg now chopped into tiny cubes. Even more gross than before. I don’t eat it. Waitress didn’t ask if there was a problem when she cleared the plate w entirely uneaten food. I didn’t ask for it to be taken off the bill because I didn’t want any negative vibe while I was visiting w my friend. The potatoes were pretty inedible too - covered w way too much cayenne/paprika. Overall paid for nothing. My friend and I agreed despite the convenience we won’t be eating there again.
