Totally worth it! And doesn’t feel like a super touristy thing to do!
Our experience at Hump Island Oyster was awesome! It was a little concerning finding out the oysters weren’t native to the area, but it turned out to be a great little tour to do while away from our cruise! We also had a smaller group so that made it definitely worth it. The girls on staff are all very personable and happy to tell the story of the farm. They also tour you around the farm and show you how it all works, I appreciated the honesty behind the story! There’s also a fun touch tank to see some ocean creatures!
The only negative I could give that they could work on is the driver we had to and from the docks was super talkative and was often on his phone during the boat ride. Would have been nice to have more conversation.
They do fedex shipping and we will be ordering for the holidays! The girls even gave us their email to set up the order!!

A really enjoyable afternoon, and something completely different from most tour excursions. Our hosts shared their stories and enlightened us on the little known farming of Pacific oysters. We were also treated to some fresh and grilled oysters from the farm, a bowl of warm miso soup that took the chill off a rather cool drizzly day, and house made salsas featuring seaweed - awesome! Our tour guide/driver Steven, provided a genuine narrative of life in Ketchikan, that was refreshing in its originality and content! We will be recommending this excursion to friends and good on Holland America for including this small, local business in its selection of excursions for their guests traveling to this area 💯

Jacinda, Shawn, and Maya were all amazing tour guides.

Jacinda answered our many questions about growing up in Ketchikan and being a deckhand. Shawn gave a superb tour of the oyster farming process followed by the best touch tank I've ever seen. Maya was our oyster tender and bartender for the real treat.

I'm not a fan of oysters but these made me change my mind. They were buttery and delicious, and the kelp salsas added an extra zing.

Plus, we got to see a humpback whale off the dock before heading back to shore.

Highly highly recommend this tour. These young Alaskans are doing great things.

We went here for team building for work, and it was an awesome experience! There was great info about the family-owned farm and what they do, a little petting tank, and delicious oysters. They also have great stuff in their little gift shop, and the views are beautiful. Will definitely have to go again with friends and family. If you're visiting Ketchikan, a tour to the oyster farm is something that should definitely be on your list!

Very interesting place to do something different, if your are thinking in admiring the process of cultivation, rising and ending product as its characteristics. Do not hesitate to go and try this new product. You will be amazed if what you will learn.

Super enjoyable half day learning about oyster farming, exploring the touch tank of local sea creatures and, most importantly, eating some delicious oysters. We even managed to see some humpbacks on the way back to land.

Did a tour of the farm operation when I visited Ketchikan last week. Also had a tasting of the oysters, as well as some kelp products. The staff were phenomenal, very kind and informative. The oysters were very tasty. I highly recommend checking this place out, and giving their oysters a try!
