Such a wonderful ranch and riding experience! The staff and wranglers were so thoughtful and helpful throughout our stay. Wonderful place for a holiday ‘away from it all’. Not to mention the views and scenery which was just stunning!

I was fortunate enough to be invited to a Fly Fishing Retreat through Reel Recovery. I have participated in multiple retreats throughout my life and I can honestly say that my stay at the Hunewill Ranch has been phenomenal!

The accommodations, food, staff and location has been top notch!

Every encounter with staff has been very warm and welcoming. I am so grateful for this opportunity to be a guest.

Not only would I highly recommend this venue, I already have.

Thank you Hunewill Staff for all you have done!

I stayed her as a treat for myself when I reached my business goals. I had such a great adventure. It was so fun. My horse’s name was Mulan which was perfect for me…the Chinese warrior that saves China! You had the opportunity to choose which kind of ride you would go on. Did you want to do cattle herding, regular trail ride, ride up to the lake etc. And if you didn’t know how to ride they gave instructions. The setting and the rides were so picturesque. I went in the fall, I think one of their last for the season before shutting down for the winter. The food was really good. The cabins were quaint. The horses were outstanding. And the evening entertainment was fun. I enjoyed going out early in the morning when they called the horses in. That was amazing to see. If you’re looking for a fun equestrian adventure definitely check this place out!

Peaceful, sunny, clean, and inviting.|For years, I have been spending a week every fall in this glorious location with friends who love to quilt. It is reasonably priced. The meals, served in the ranch house at 9am and 6pm, are healthy and yummy. You have access to refrigeration for any special foods or medication that you bring. The cowboys do their cattle work all around us, which makes going for walks fun and educational. The cabins are comfortable, clean, heated, with porches and Adirondack chairs with spectacular views of the mountains. We set up our sewing machines in their large rooms and our cabins and the days fly by! Can't wait for next year.

Went for the fall cattle week in late September. Not only is location of the ranch itself spectacular, but the staff are more than diligent in their quest to take care of guests safety and experience. Had a hoot of a time with the other guests, you’ll find some real nice people come to this ranch year after year. go here to unplug. The evening activities are optional but very fun. Horses are some of the sturdiest, gentle I’ve seen and they’re all great with cattle, plus taken care of well. I suggest stopping by the travertine hot springs either in the early morning or after your stay.

This was my 2nd year for the Cattle Work PKG.. Will keep this a tradition until I am unable to ride! The horses are very good horses. I loved having the same sweet horse as last year.. (Mahogany)..I bonded with her before and after the rides..after one day she would rest her nose on my chest..She lifted her feet for cleaning. That's just something I do as a habit after riding..
It is very important (for me) to bond with your horse that will be taking direction from you and work so hard for you! The wrangler's were extremely helpful and safety is their priority.. I had a fabulous time. Sorting calves for vaccination & the timed cattle team roundup into the trailer was challenging yet we really laughed and really worked as a team.! Met wonderful people. The owners are lovely people and have created a well oiled machine at this ranch. Meaghan and other's informed us before each new adventure. I didn't want to leave!! Look forward to next year!! I wouldn't miss it!

I decided to celebrate my birthday by doing a 5 day riding experience at a ranch. When researching, Hunewill Ranch seemed like it was about the horses which is exactly what it turned out to be. I was a little nervous that going alone it might be weird but the people who I met were incredible and I look forward to seeing them next year which I have already signed up to do. Hard to describe why this place is so magical but it combines the stunning scenery of the Eastern Sierras just behind Yosemite, alpine medows with streams running through them, horses that live in lovely pastures in a herd when not working, many of whom start to come voluntarily to the corral in the mornings, cute cabins that are western, simple but perfect for the ranch, horse people of all riding levels and the Hunewill family who works tirelessly to make the experience for the guests a great one. It was challenging in that riding twice a day made me develop muscles that I have not for many years and that riding really improved my riding ability which is what I wanted. The horses are in amazing shape, long lopes through the meadows and they did not break a sweat! That is NOT the case with most trail horses. But more than anything, it was so much fun. Food was very good, I had dietary restrictions and that was handled incredibly well. It is strange, but after 5 days, I miss the place even now and really look forward to next year when I can go back.
