We had an amazing backpacking trip around Pyramid peak. KWG does a great job individualizing trips to abilities and experience and our guide (Avery) was excellent! Jared managed our travel logistics as well when weather changed our plans. We felt week taken care of and had a spectacular experience! We can’t wait to come back!

We had the most fantastic time on our glacier hike with our most fantastic guide Ry. Everyone was super nice and super knowledgeable and they all helped my husband and I have an exciting, fun and informative day. Although we were both totally worn out afterward, it was a fabulous up close interaction with Alaska! We highly recommend Kennicott Guides to anyone visiting.

The hike to the Root Glacier was fantastic! Our guides were very knowledgeable and helpful on and off the glacier, facilitating enjoyable group dynamics, giving us good safety tips, and patiently fielding all my questions. Even though we might have been able to walk the glacier on our own, it wouldn’t have been nearly as rich or educational of an experience.

My sister and I (ages 49 and 50) did the full-day ice climb, and it was amazing!! We ended up in a all-women's group of five, including our awesome guide, Katy. The glacier itself was breathtaking. I had no idea that glaciers had so much landscape of their own. They have hills, valleys, streams, and the hike to and from our climbing site was stunning. For the climb itself, I was a little nervous as it was a new experience for me, but I felt very comfortable with Katy. She was experienced and knowledgeable, and I trusted her expertise. On top of that, she was very encouraging, as were the other women in our group. She was also very patient, letting us stop to take photos, ask questions, etc. On the hike back to town, she taught us about edible plants in the area. This outing was definitely one of the highlights of our Alaskan adventures! If you are considering doing it, go for it! You will love the glacier, make some fun memories, and also have some pretty cool photos to share with your friends.

I've visited Kennicott twice and did tours with KWG on both trips. I highly recommend the company and its experiences! I've done packrafting, ice climbing, hiking to the glacier and through ice tunnels, and a backcountry camping trip The VIEWS!! It's beautiful everywhere, but especially on backcountry trips. They bring your food and have the gear to borrow for camping (if needed). If you'd like to stay closer to Kennicott, there is plenty to do. You can tailor your journey based on what is comfortable for you. If you have questions, ask! Everyone I have interacted with has been professional, fun, experienced, and a joy to adventure with. They are knowledgeable and love what they do. The company is well-equipped with top gear and ensures you have what you need for any adventure. Kennicott / McCarthy is quaint and peaceful, with vast views and great spots for food and drinks. I hope to get back there before too long!

I couldn’t be more thankful for the wonderful last minute experience. With weather conditions pretty unstable, we called up the owner at 8.30 PM midweek and requested for a half day glacier hike the next day morning. He was very responsive, connected with the guides and made sure to arrange everything in the next one hour or so. And above all, all of this was done for just the two of us. Katy was our guide and she was friendly and an amazing guide. She made sure that felt comfortable throughout the hike, arranged for a rain gear and took us to the best points on the glacier. If we had the time, we might have made it a full day hike. She talked about the history of the place, mushrooms and weeds around, best things to try out in the town, etc.. The hike was totally worth it. It was perfect and a peaceful hike, just us and the guide. I would go back to this group the next time I’m in McCarthy!

My mom and I had such a great time on our full day glacier hike with Tyler. He was super knowledgeable about the terrain . We hiked through Kennicot past the old cooper mill which is super interesting! We went through a wooded area and past a waterfall to the glacier. The monumental size of the glacier and just Alaska in general is humbling and awe inspiring. The glacier had beautiful blue pools of water that looked unreal. We filled our canteens in one of the many streams and waterfalls. We ate our lunches on the glacier on a pad Tyler provided. All in all the day was magical! Great company! Beautiful hike! I 10/10 recommend Kennicot wilderness guides!! Thank you Tyler!!
