Great tour if you are a fan of the urban music of the 1980s and 90's. Be warned, tho...outside of Watts, the Hood has changed. No more bangers hanging out on corners and parks, lots of manicured lawns of houses that are worth $500k+. Our tour guide, Mooney, was awesome. Very knowledgeable. He made sure we were able to get all the pictures we needed. As stated above, if you are a fan of 80's and 90's rap, this is a must see. Probably wouldn't do it again, but it was cool to see the places I wouldn't go by myself.

Had an amazing time on the Hood Tour of South Central, Compton, Watts. The tour included all filming locations of the most iconic "hood movies" from the 80's and 90's. Mooney our guide, from Compton was very informative, personable and hilarious. He took us to his neighborhood in Compton, we had the opportunity to stroll through a park and check out his friends' low rider. I would highly recommend taking the tour with Mooney if you want an informative and enjoyable experience.

Absolutely amazing time!!! Learned and saw so much in 3.5 hrs! We took the LA Hood Tour and it was the best! I highly recommended for hip hop lovers and movie lovers! Big Mike was so great and shared so much love and perspective and knowledgeable and stories with us! Big Mike talked about communities in LA with such love and respect and taught everyone about his home and community. We drove around in a white Ford passenger van.

Stops include the Friday house ($20 for a Pic but worth it), Crenshaw shop, movie filming sites such as Menace ll Society, white men can't jump, Kendrick Lamar childhood home, watts tower and more!

We did this tour on the last day of our trip and this was a great way to close out. Our tour guide, Mooney, was amazing. He was very knowledgeable, shared personal experiences, and he made the tour very interesting overall. Mooney made sure we got all of the pictures we wanted and he made sure we covered all parts of the tour. Mooney also made sure we were on time for everything. I’d highly recommend this tour.

This was the most mind blowing tour in my life. For those who grew up on gangsta rap and those classic films from the 90s like Friday, Boys in the hood and many other great films, this is a MUST DO tour on your bucket list within your life time. Big Mike who was our tour guide and driver was like a living documentary that we watched and listened. Amazing sories about history of south central, compton, watts...understanding those stories make you understand why this amazing music and films came about. Thank you for making my dream come true guys. Now back to England

We took the tour two years ago and unfortunately only got around to writing a review now. The tour with Big Mike was amazing! It was super cool that he had the original hip hop tunes playing throughout. The experience was authentic, fun, and exciting. He showed us both the good and the challenging sides of the hood. It was truly an unforgettable experience for us.
Greetings from the two white guys from Germany! ✌️

We had just arrived into LA the night before & wanted to do the LA Hood Life Tour. We had issues booking it online however I texted the wonderful owner & he suggested to just rock up a little earlier & we could definitely jump on the tour ?

There is a little booth outside the Nail Salon where you meet & greet the tour guide & other people. The owner was super friendly & commented that my name was a little unusual ?

Our tour guide Big Mike was the man!!! ? Sooo knowledgeable, kind & super friendly. He shared a lot of amazing experiences of the areas we visited & took us to a few places where he grew up & hung out when he was younger.

Both my husband & I were in absolute awe of the places we visited & the history of it which was just incredible! ?

Thank you Big Mike for showing us around, we highly recommend this tour especially if you have always wanted to see places that were in the movies: Friday, Boyz n da Hood, Menace to Society, Baby Boy, Car Wash, White Men Can't Jump. We checked out Kendrick Lamar's childhood home, Nipsey Hussle's Foundation, Watts Towers (really cool landmark!) & so much more! Trust that you won't be disappointed!! ?
