It is definitely a budget motel that needs a little TLC. My room could have been cleaned better.lots of hair that wasn't mine and a few spiders in the shower.

The woman behind the counter was very nice to me, though

Nice For The Price.
My family and I stayed at the Lamplighter Motel in Clinton, Connecticut, for one night on Friday, October 20, 2023. Despite being an older establishment, the motel is well-maintained, clean, and comfortable. The room, though small, was cozy and well-kept, reflecting the care and attention given to the property.

The staff was friendly, and both check-in and check-out processes were quick and efficient. We also appreciated the ease of parking. The motel's affordability was a pleasant surprise, offering excellent value for money.

The location of the motel is convenient, situated in the charming town of Clinton, which added to our overall positive experience. Based on our stay, we would highly recommend the Lamplighter Motel for its combination of comfort, value, and excellent location.

Quiet motel, right on Rte 1, close to restaurants, highway, event locations. Low price, comfortable beds, good shower, plenty of hot water, good air conditioner. Room was clean except for bathroom window sill, looked as if it hadnt been cleaned in a long time, no curtain in the bathroom and a back deck could look right into it. The only negative aspect of the stay there. Will certainly return and bring a curtain for next time.

You get what you pay for. This isn't a resort or a spot if you plan on spending a lot of time in the room. But it was clean enough(bedding and floors were clean, headboard and shower curtain were not) and the staff was very kind. Be prepared for small and simple. Amazing restaurant right across the street. We would absolutely stay again.

This is the worst hotel room I've ever stayed in. I'm 40 and travel regularly, I've only seen rooms like this on TV. The only difference between this and a 3rd world hostel is that you have a private bathroom in your very own dirty, unmaintained, bug-filled, outdated room. The bed linens had cigarette burns and red ants. The bathroom didn't have a door handle and the toliet paper holder was broke and sitting under the sink. There was no working ice machine, no clothes iron available, no blackout curtains (so thin that you can see through). Even the TV was just a bunch of static with a non-working remote control. There seems to be just one person working here, most likely the owner. I believe she was of middle-eastern decent and I get there are cultural differences, but it is just rude to call your customers room and ask when are you leaving; check-out is at 11? My response, Um i'm sorry what time is it; the clock says 8 something. Yes it is; then why are you waking me up and I hung up her. You can see this owner does not even care to respond to the complaints, and it's a shame. This may be a complete S@#$ hole, but if you spent just a small amount of money in each room, it would be a nice place to stay. The area is nice and quaint and the beaches are close.

Why? I have been tortured. For some reason I had the idea that the owner thought I was an okay guy. Huh? How could I be so wrong.
I had to do my personal business when I got there. Pushed the flush button on the toilet and it nearly overflowed. Nevermind sent my latest creation down the drain. Nearly sent it upon my diggers and anything close by on the floor. Trying to mention it in a kindly manner, I approached the front desk and was told - you no flush too much! Not okay to stuff toilet. At which point im thinking - great, just slept with it, now what? Lady points to a plunger says, theres the plunger, you take care of it.
...
Shock and awe at this stage in the latest adventure of Don.

This place is not as bad as everyone is making it out to be. I didn't find it at all as terrible as those one and two star reviews. It's not meant to be a 4 or 5 star place. It is what it is: a 3-star motel where you can lay your head for the night as you pass through the area. The accommodations are minimal, that's for sure. But I just needed a bed with a pillow, curtains that would close, a door that would lock, good lighting inside, and plumbing (shower/toilet) that worked. Check-in was fast and easy. If you're on a budget don't pass it up!
