Beautiful, quiet, attentive staff and excellent food. Spent one night in the main building, Room #10 with a stone fireplace. The room is beautifully appointed and large, with an outdoor deck and beautiful bathroom. We had drinks and dinner at the tavern and the food, drink and conversation were all perfect. Complimentary breakfast is served in the morning in the tavern which was also delicious. We stayed during a snowstorm which added to the ambiance and staff offered late checkout to add to the perfect night. Will be back again for sure. Thanks Sherry and team!

Cozy, homey, clean, and quiet. The room we stayed in could’ve been a loft! Sherry welcomed us and gave a brief history of the inn. Our room had the most comfortable king bed with a fireplace that added the perfect touch to the ambiance. We then went over to the tavern right in time for happy hour and enjoyed an old fashioned from the bartender Jimmy. The morning included a delicious breakfast buffet. Certainly a spot we will be coming back to! Thank you Lost Fox Inn team!

Earlier this month, we visited the Lost Fox Inn to celebrate our anniversary, and I cannot rave enough about this place! The rooms, food, and service were all beyond exceptional.

Rooms: The rooms are stunningly designed with a perfect balance of aesthetics and functionality, rivaling some of the best boutique hotels in Europe. My only suggestion would be to add a few more amenities, like slippers, bathrobes, and earbuds.

Restaurant: The restaurant is as beautifully designed as the rest of the inn, from the main dining area to the bathrooms. The service was impeccable, and every dish we tried was expertly prepared and absolutely delicious. A standout moment was when our waitress noticed my husband didn’t enjoy his cocktail. She not only replaced it with something he liked but also removed it from our bill—such thoughtful attention to detail! The staff here are paid a living wage, and it shows in their happiness and helpfulness. While tips aren’t expected, I highly encourage tipping extra—they truly deserve it!

Breakfast: The included breakfast was another highlight, offering a great way to start the day.

To make our anniversary extra special, the staff went above and beyond. They upgraded us to a room with a cozy fireplace, left a sweet note in our room, and surprised us with bubbly during dinner. These thoughtful touches made our celebration unforgettable.

We can’t wait to return and are already planning a visit to their sisters hotel, Foxfire Mountain House, in early 2025!

I am a food blogger in CT and I recently got to visit the Lost Fox Inn Tavern with my son. The atmosphere was very quiet and calm as we sat by the fireplace. I ordered a mocktail which was delicious!! The chef came out and introduced himself and brought us a starter. It was awesome! The presentation and taste of the food was so incredible. The staff was also incredible! They made sure we had everything we needed at all times. They even came over and folded my son’s napkin after he got up to use the restroom. Amazing!! When you can’t stop thinking of the food you know it was amazing!! I look forward to going back!! Thank you Lost Fox Inn!

A very romantic overnight stay. I wish it was closer to the town, but for one night it was fine. The room was beautiful and the service was excellent. They have a strict cancellation policy. I tried to reschedule since my spouse was sick ( five days prior) and we could not. We decided to go anyway as not to lose our money. We would have had a much better experience had he been well.

My experience at Lost fox inn Restaurant was very bitter/sweet. It’s a gorgeous place that I’d say majority of people dress up nicely to have a nice date or dinner. Which usually means lighter clothing and not full blown winter snow gear. My husband and I were seated right by the entrance door so we were freezing cold! Every time that door opened up (which was often) a gust of winter wind came crashing right at us! Even made my hair blow. The table on my right was a much older lady shivering even tho her husband had given her his jacket as well, table to my left of me was freezing just like myself. I did ask if they had a heater they could place near us and both tables next to us appreciated I asked.
A lady which most likely is the owner told me “sorry it’s an old building so it doesn’t hold heat very well, but I’ll put some extra logs in the fire” (Clearly not the problem) who mind you the fire place probably 10 seats away and wouldn’t help at all! It would have been nice to hear instead ”I’m so sorry I know these seats are not the greatest I’ll get you a free dessert” or something like that. I made these reservations a month prior and our bill was nearly $300 for a couple so you’d expect to at least feel comfortable without wearing snow boots and gloves.

Now the sweet- I wish I asked for our waiters name because he was fantastic, the Food was incredibly Tasty! And with our last drink order we took it for a little tour of the old building that was super warm and cozy as soon as you stepped 4 feet away from our table. So it held heat just fine lol
We walk upstairs there was a super cozy sitting area with a library. Took a few photos and finished our drinks there. Our whole mood changed once we left our seats.

I would totally come back to this place, we would just refuse to sit at the 4 first tables by the door unless it’s nice enough to sit outdoors.

Oh and just a Tip, 🙂 the checks arrived in an old Shakespeare, book which I thought was super neat, there was no option to give a tip which also was super neat lol but since out of habit and our waiter was so awesome we did want to leave him something, we unfortunately didn’t bring cash so if you do want to leave a tip make sure to have some cash on you 🙂

The Lost Fox Inn and Tavern is a true gem in the Litchfield Hills. The service, decor, and food are all truly extraordinary, with nothing quite like it. Every part of this historic property is so thoughtfully designed and exceptionally spotless. Staff makes you feel so welcomed that you can't help but feel you've found your home away from home. With such a cozy and intimate feel, Lost Fox is a must see. It is quite clear everything is done with love at Lost Fox and really is the definition of hospitality.

Review on the restaurant: Talk about a 10/10 experience! We really enjoyed our meal at Lost Fox Inn. For a new restaurant, the staff really has it together, from the incredible service to the talented chef. My husband and I had a wonderful date night here - the dining room is small, but dimly lit, so it still felt private. The vibe is perfect for Litchfield, and the owners did a fantastic job of keeping the colonial charm in the renovations they did to this 1740s home. So many creative dishes to choose from on the menu, with some of our favorites being the lamb kofta appetizer and sticky toffee pudding dessert special. I’ll definitely be keeping Lost Fox Inn in mind for another date night or special occasion!
