We enjoyed walking the beach and boardwalk. Look forward to walking trails opening up for the season. There is no shortage of wildlife to view.

Our favorite Dog Beach for Bird and Water lovers! There is no fee to enter the park but please remember to drive very slow on the park roads due to wildlife. There are birds, turtles, raccoons and frogs in the road a lot. This is their home and in spring animals like to warm up on the roadway. And, most of the time the geese act like they own the road here. 🪿🪿🪿🪿🪿Go Slow to save lives!

Fantastic variety of warblers during the spring migration. The boardwalk gets busy with people as expected, but the pictures I was able to take are stunning and it was all worth it. It was my first time visiting during migration, and I'll definitely be back! There was easily several thousand people there in total, between the boardwalk, beach, and the trails around. Extraordinary place to see a multitude of warblers and rare migratory birds. I saw 20 species of birds in one five hour visit. The adjacent lakeside shore is also beautiful. But beware that Magee Marsh gets very busy during the peak migratory season in mid May. There are hundreds of people present on the walkway at these times, so be prepared to be patient. Luckily the birds don’t seem to be affected by this number of visitors and many will perch right in front of you in the bushes and trees.

After wandering around Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge next door, we thought a little stroll on the beach was called for. We bopped over here and made the short walk to the sand.
There are little shells all over the place. Tiny, but they cover about half the beach. Really fun to look through. Found some neat pieces of coral too.

Nice place for a walk on the beach with your pup. Walking paths seem well taken care of.
Plenty of porta potties.

We were passing through the area staying at a local campground, marina. Then decided to go for an afternoon hike. Magee Marsh offered many beautiful options. Many birds, including a bald eagle, osprey and several egrets!

Go up
