There are definitely unethical carriage services out there, but this is NOT one of them. You can tell they care deeply for their horses. All their horses are spoiled and are in great condition. They have plenty of food and water all day and treats and scratches galore! The horses are rotated to avoid fatigue, and they live on 50 acres of pasture when not working. They are living the dream!
What a lot of non-horse people don't know is that horses do enjoy having a job - and these horses know and love their jobs!
Our guide was incredibly funny and kind and definitely spoils the horses.

I understand people's hesitation to use carriage services for fear of exploiting animals, but ethical carriage services DO exist and should be supported.
We had a lovely tour and will be sure to tour again!

My husband and I have gone on two carriage rides together.

Once 7 months ago when we were engaged after watching Cinderella at the Rose. Our driver was very funny and told us many awesome facts about the horses and about what we were seeing. He did also have several blankets for us as it was so cold!

We went the night of our wedding too (almost a week ago)! The lady checking off reservations was so helpful in taking pictures and was coming up with so many great poses 😊 our driver was also very kind. She allowed us some space during our ride to talk with each other which was great as we hadn’t spent much one-on-one time together that day.

My husband and I had a great time on our 30 minute ride. The driver was very friendly and offered information and recommendations while we rode by buildings, and even let us pet the horse (after asking if we could). It was a great pace to really take in the city and look at the scenery. They even provided blankets in case we got cold. We will definitely be taking another ride the next time we visit.

Had a great time on the 1 hour downtown ride. Granddaughter had a blast. The driver was very knowledgeable about the downtown history. Will do again next time in Omaha

My wife and I went on the Cinderella carriage ride for our first anniversary. I expected to be rather bored, but instead it was enjoyable. Parts of the ride were through crowds and traffic, so it was fun to see how the old market works. Parts of the ride were really peaceful and romantic.

This was such a fun experience...we paid $40 to ride around the old market. Our driver told us some very fun places to go along with interested facts about the buildings we where passing.

The lady that was in charge of our ride on my wife’s birthday was fantastic! The horse was very well maintained and behaved has he should! I was thankful they had a blanket available for use as I didn’t dress for the weather that evening! Next time we’re in town, we’ll be back for a longer ride!

Please end exploiting these gentle souls! This is all for profit! Animals are not on this planet for human entertainment. They cannot lie down for hours, they walk on harsh bricks/pavement, pull those heavy carriages and all in this heat and freezing temperatures. One can easily see how scared they are among so many loud vehicles and so many people.
It is heartbreaking to see this every time I visit Old Market!
To all tourists and horse owners that exploit them: have a heart! Care a little!
