I can’t express enough the memories that Dave created for us and our 10yr old grandson!! Dave was amazing with him when he was wary of actually getting in the water to begin with. Dave had him up on the board riding waves in 10 minutes then proceeded to spend another hour just teaching him about the ocean and life!!! I truly believe that our grandson matured exponentially in the short time they had together. Memories were created that will last us a lifetime and are priceless!! Thank you so much Dave for what you do and we will be seeing you again soon with more family.

Over the past couple of years, we’ve had countless adventures from surfing to fishing, paddle boarding, and relaxing coastal cruises with Captain Dave.

Malibu Coastal Adventures came highly recommended from the team at Malibu Beach Inn, and it’s easy to see why. From my first point of contact, Dave was responsive, helpful, and planned the ideal excursion for our family.

Dave is absolutely great with kids. He’s thoughtful in his approach when teaching them how to surf, paddle board, or fish. He makes them feel safe and confident in the water.

While out on the Zephyr, we’ve enjoyed the unique views of the coastline and have had several fun interactions with sea lions and dolphins. Once during a surf lesson, a seal went “surfing” right along with one of my children! When fishing, the kids compete to see who can catch the most fish. Collectively, I think we’re up to 90-100 fish, and are looking forward to going back to beat our record!

We’ve created some great memories, so whenever we’re in the area, my kids beg me to book an outing with Captain Dave.

I strongly recommend contacting Malibu Coastal Adventures next time you’re in SoCal - it will be the highlight of your trip!

Dave is amazing! I have now hired him three times for young people that are visiting California and would like to learn how to surf, and he has had all of them up and surfing their first time. The kids (one 17 and two 18) have had A marvelous time with him. He is patient. He is kind and funny. Highly highly recommended!

Captain Dave was amazing! Our family will remember this experience forever! We got to do some paddle boarding, saw beautiful marine life and felt safe the whole way through. Dave was friendly , knowledgeable, and thoughtful. Worth every penny!

Our surf lesson with Dave was perfect! He was very communicative when planning the lesson, was extremely kind, and made sure we had a great time. He provides all the gear and you get plenty of time in the water to practice. We were lucky enough to see some dolphins as well. Definitely recommend a lesson with Dave for anyone learning to surf!

This was the absolute best boat ride and tour of the coast of Southern California- Malibu. Captain Dave was not only a great captain with a fun boat, but his incredible personality made this trip extra special for our family of five. He dialed up great times to and from the Malibu Pier. We got up close to swimming dolphins, saw seals, sea lions, and my son even reeled in a bat ray with Capt’n Dave’s help of course. He shared a ton of knowledge about the coastline and all kinds of sea life! We all paddle boarded, and even got to ride behind the boat with a tow line. He was so thoughtful, and made sure my whole family had a memorable experience. I highly recommend Dave & Malibu Coastal Adventures and can’t wait to do this again!

Dave was so incredible. First the pricing was great for a private charter. We started at 9am and did a 3 hour tour. Dave was kind and knowledgeable. The boat is great, soft seating, and a large net up front if you want to sit or layout. Dave took us to a couple bouys where there were a couple dozen Sea Lions laying out in the sun. He helped us both get on stand up paddle boards so that we could get closer. He took great pictures for us from the boat. Then we did some wakeboarding behind the boat… also amazing. We cruised up to Santa Monica and then down through Venice. Just before coming back into the harbor a pair of dolphins surfaced next to the boat. Dolphins can’t be guaranteed so we felt really lucky! We packed a small bag of towels and bottles of water. That was all we really needed. The wind can be a bit chilly in the morning, recommend light jackets until the sun comes out. 10/10 highly recommend. I’d book this again in a heartbeat.
