Thanks to Donna, my aunt and I had the Maui trip of a lifetime.

In the middle of high summer season, she magically secured us exactly what we‘d dreamed of: a quiet, modern, yet homey condo with jaw-dropping views (and air conditioning!) steps away from the best snorkeling on Maui. And all for the same price as booking directly through the condo resort itself.

Even if you think you can manage perfectly well on your own without a travel agent (as I previously did), do yourself a favor and book with Donna. She is armed not only with encyclopedic knowledge of the island and its offerings (she’s a local girl herself), but also with a love for Hawaii and for her work that is contagious. She takes the time to listen to you and what you want out of your island visit, check up with you once you’ve arrived, and to make sure she’s pointed you in the direction of restaurants and places only the locals know about.

Donna gave us her Local Girl’s Guide to Maui to take with us to Maui, and it was a spectacular reference for our time there. Thanks to her, I was eating Maui’s best poke in places only the locals go, getting to rub shoulders with locals in real local places, and glimpsing a side of island life most tourists don’t see. I’m buying a copy of the guide as a gift to friends who are going there next month. Again: I'm the kind of person who prides himself on doing weeks of his own internet research before a trip. And yet Donna's guide gets you to places - and a state of mind - that you're just not going to find yourself as an outsider.

Donna is a class act and a consummate professional. I’ll be booking any and all Hawaii travel with her in the future.

The Local Girl's Guide to Maui also helped us plan for beautiful beaches, snorkeling and other activities. It was very up to date.

Donna Bender helped us book our honeymoon stay at Maui Kai. We had originally planned to go to another location but had to cancel last minute for weather reasons. Donna was wonderful with helping us plan our trip just a few weeks before our stay. The condos were great - every unit is waterfront, lots of privacy and clean spacious rooms. We loved falling asleep to the sound of the ocean and being able to walk out the door and right onto the beach. Donna gave us her Local Girl's Guide to Maui to take with us, which was wonderful as this was our first time visiting! You can't go wrong with her guide - every restaurant and activity she listed was great. We would definitely visit Maui Kai again!

Donna's booking suggestions came in clutch given the limited stock and high prices post-COVID restrictions, and we found a great place in Napili Bay that became our home for a week. We just got back from a week-long stay at the Napili Point Condos which we booked through Donna Bender of MauiCalls. Everything in our 1-bedroom condo was just as she had said it would be! A spacious living area and kitchen, comfortable bed, towels and toys for the beach, and daily housekeeping service by a gracious staff made for a very restful vacation. We loved just sitting outdoors on our patio overlooking the ocean and turtle cove. Couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay!

Donna also provided us with her “Local Girl’s Guide to Maui” to plan ahead places we wanted to go to as well as restaurants to try, and we were never disappointed. The moment we got off the plane we took her suggestion of where to eat right there in Kahului before making our way across the island. It was such a great way to start our trip! All in all, a perfect vacation.

We loved working with Donna Bender of MauiCalls to plan and book our family trip to Maui in November 2013. Donna is a native-born Hawaiian who lives part-time in Maui and part time in Northern California; as a result she knows the island better than her own back yard.

We desired to be near Napili Bay on the recommendation of friends who had taken their own grandchildren there earlier in the year. Donna concurred enthusiastically with their recommendation and booked three condominiums for us at Napili Point, which she described candidly and accurately as "a B property in an A location". She was absolutely correct--it was a five minute walk to Napili Bay, reasonably priced, with snorkeling (but no beach) directly in front of the hotel. Our grandkids (ages 8, 9, 10, and 11) were in heaven! This is an older property and some of the units are a little tired, but the grounds are well maintained and the staff does a good job.

We had a wonderful time and were very, very happy with the guidance Donna gave us and the great advice in her Local Girl’s Guide to Maui, which came home dog-eared from use. At dinner my wife exclaimed: “Why haven’t we been using specialty travel agents in all of our travels?” We both agreed that Donna's guidance--in lodging, family activities, and restaurants--made all the difference.

It would not have been nearly as good a trip without all the resources Donna made available to us. And as fellow foodies, we especially appreciated her comments on the restaurants. She was 6 for 6 in restaurant recommendations, and that's 100% by my (old) math!
