Very unique museum experience, went on the last of the year and it wasn’t busy. I covered most of the exhibits in about 2 hours or so and discovered so many interesting facts, got to tour inside one of the boats, and enjoyed meeting with some of their crafted skilled men at work. I believe summer time is their busiest, and I’m glad I visited when it was not peak.

Exceptional indoor and outdoor museum with tons of boats, buildings, artifacts, etc, with many short tour opportunities, and well-informed staff and volunteers. Definitely a great place to visit for adults and children. We easily spent the entire day and still had lots to see and do. And our ticket is good for 7 days, so it's easy to come back if you stay in the area.

This place is EXPENSIVE !!! But they need to pay all that staff living wages and I want places like this to still exist so I'm glad it is there and I went. I went to the lantern Christmas.
Once I walked in they wanted more money for food and drinks but again they have a lot of staff.. I walked around and went into different buildings where people were doing telling corny jokes and pretending to be old timey but other people LOVED it.
The wagon ride was short and anti climatic . The boat was awesome
The snow globe was awesome.
I'm still gonna do 5 stars cause even with my issues it was an experience.

I went for the Halloween event, it was super fun! They had free face painting, the haunted tour was really well done, and the museum exhibits had me wanting to come back during the day. Loved it 🙂

WOW! A huge and fabulous collection of everything related to old time wooden ship building and modern restoration! I walked 4 miles in 3 hours to see the site, I highly recommend visiting this museum.

Went on a weekday in mid-August, close to noon. No wait to get in, but some exhibits were closed. It's a large outdoor museum with some pretty neat artifacts and ships you can explore inside. There are also live workshops where they restore boats, and you can observe them while they work. They also have some areas designated for children. There's a large parking area across the museum and it's free to park.

With such a wide range of buildings, exhibits, shows, and interactives, Mystic Seaport Museum truly has something for the whole family. While I spent just under a day and a half at the museum, a visitor could easily dedicate three or four full days if they wanted to see all the shows, take all the tours, and ride all the bonus boats.

The museum has done a lot of work in the ways of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) along with working on accessibility initiatives. Attractions with stair access only are marked with a stair icon on the map; unfortunately this includes major stops like Charles W. Morgan, Mystic Print Shop, and Shipcarver’s Shop. The museum had plenty of outside seating, but some buildings were dimly lit. I appreciated the misting station located near the Meeting House that allowed visitors to cool off during the hot day.

Because Mystic Seaport is an outdoor museum, its open hours vary greatly depending on time of year. Also, ticket pricing varies widely depending on age, occupation, and membership to a wide range of organizations. Be sure to check the website before you go. This is a must-see for any history fan or boat lover.
