This hotel has a super friendly and helpful staff! We had two rooms there over the course of a week. The first was a bit dated and carpeted on the first floor. The next was a tastefully decorated and updated room on the second. There was a nice small pool area as well. The hotel is pet friendly.

The staff, in particular Brian and Ryder were very accommodating and supportive as we were there day to day for a week waiting to determine if our RV was being totaled and then picked up. The team were blocking rooms for us and rearranging bookings so we didn’t have to bounce around. They gave great pointers to activities in town (eg Thurs pm farmers market) and places to go (hint breakfast at Howard’s bakery/cafe across the street).

Occidental is a quaint little town where you can walk to everything from this hotel in minutes. It has a hippie vibe which made it interesting and fun.

Staff, Ryder & Brian absolutely amazing, friendly, knowledgeable hosts. They made the stay wonderful. We stayed 2 nights, It is in a perfect location. I give the room 4 stars because there was a clump of dog hair and a used soap bar in the bathroom. Other than that, we will return. The pool area was nice too.

Very satisfied with our stay here! Rooms were clean and full of amenities! Staff are some of the nicest people you could meet and location is beautiful! Price was decent as well! Would book here again.

Cute and unassuming motor lodge right in the heart of the little town of Occidental. The rooms aren’t fancy or anything but good value and has the necessities. Nice staff.

The pool area was quiet and not busy when we went. Great for a calm and relaxing getaway.

The property seems to need a lot of repair/upgrading. When I walked in, the tub faucet had a steady stream of water coming out even though it was shut off as much as possible. Electric outlets are coming out of the walls. Whenever anyone moves upstairs, it's broadcast loud and clear in the room.

Positive: Close to what was doing locally. Negative: The aged room was reserved about two months before arrival. Paid $--- for 2 nights, Friday and Saturday, for a room marginally better than Motel 6 and not even as good as a typical Best Western. Best Western Plus is the my gold standard.

I am completely dissatisfied and unimpressed with my stay here. The "superior king" room that I was given (Room 184) looked NOTHING like the photos online. The only TV was a tiny little one in the "living room" that was more like the waiting room of an oil change shop. The furniture was literally staging furniture used for model homes and was horribly uncomfortable. The walls were paper thin and the entire unit looked like it was an afterthought that was squeezed in between two normal sized units to maximize profits (the room was floor to ceiling new construction, nothing “70’s” about it). I peeked at the king room directly nextdoor and it was a normal sized King hotel room, but mine was tiny and uncomfortable with NO TV in front of the bed, yet I paid the same price as the "normal" rooms. To top it off, the next morning I almost got in a fight with a druggie who was blasting rap music from his car parked right outside my room. Total bait and switch. I will never stay here again.

Got scammed by online booking service masquerading as this hotel. Beware. Front desk confirmed it’s happening but didn’t offer to compensate. Room was very aged, none of bathroom counter lights worked, light next to bed didn’t work, bath towels are tiny, no blow dryer, heater super noisy and blew hot and cold all night …coffee maker exploded coffee all over the place in the morning. No one at front desk to ask for help. Look around for something better and beware of booking scams.
