Nice cozy hotel to stay at. Worth the price. Decent quality for decent price. Excellent ambience, with a whole bunch of ocean related decorations. Overall a great stay.

It isn't the highest class of hotel available, but for the location and price definitely worth it.

My room was large, clean and quiet with comfy beds and a beautiful ocean view. When I had difficulties connecting my computer to the internet two members of the staff came to my room and gave their best to try to solve the problem. I appreciated that they were willing to go the extra mile to make my stay as perfect as possible. With easy access to great restaurants and ocean beaches this motel made my stay a memorable one and I look forward to a return trip.

Our room on the top floor, which had sea views, was huge! There was plenty of space for our suitcases, and a sofa to lounge on as well as the large bed. The room also had a fridge, microwave, hairdryer, and coffee making facilities. Everything was really clean. I really liked the hot drinks available in the lobby, because they had a very sweet hot chocolate in the machine, and a less sweet hot chocolate in packets which you just mix with hot water, along with all sorts of coffees and teas (including black tea for UK visitors ?). The breakfast selection in the mornings was simple yet sufficient - cereals, oats, yoghurt, fruit, bagels and various toppings, hard boiled eggs, fruit juices, and hot drinks. It's nice to look at the model boats as you eat. All the staff were lovely. We had two meals out in Crescent City and were pleased with both, even though it was hard work tracking down places that offered any vegetarian dishes (but that has been a common theme through Washington State, Oregon, and parts of northern California too, and no one here seems to use any keys on the menu to identify dishes as vegetarian, but I digress). The town is interesting to walk around as you read the information boards about its history, especially the tsunamis, and the historic lighthouse is definitely worth a trip, even for the views alone if you're not into history. Seeing the rocky landscapes in the sea brought home why the fog horn sounds out day and night. Also near to Crescent City are some nice beaches. And best of all some great trails amongst the ancient and impressive redwood trees. We were on one trail for almost three hours, surrounded by these incredible giants, and did not pass one single other person the whole time! So Crescent City is definitely worth stopping at, and this is a comfortable and well located hotel to stay in.

Great hotel! Our room had the two beds in the main area, and a sub bedroom with one bed. Very good set up for our adult family of four. Very friendly and helpful front desk staff! Excellent coffee machine in the lobby available 24/7.
Not actually right on the coast, you need to walk down a ways.
Felt very authentic and charming for an ocean-side inn.

Spacious room with fridge and ocean view. Room and hotel were comfortable and clean. The hospitality staff at this hotel is outstanding. Helpful conscientious staff. Great location to restaurants. The Chart Room is excellent, right on the ocean, lots of room is relax outside, watch sunset and listen to seals. The Seaquake brewery is a must visit. Great beer and an outstanding menu. Also walkable from hotel. |Our main purpose was Redwood National and State parks which did not disappoint. Great location to access the best trails.

The Good: Large room with two queen beds, very clean and spacious. Comfortable beds. Great water pressure. Free coffee/tea/hot chocolate 24/7. Laundry room available. Free breakfast. Wifi included (sometimes lags a little during peak hours). Was able to get a reservation at the last minute. Staff was very friendly.

The Bad: Our ocean-view room did not have the best view of the ocean. Yes, you can see it, but it’s not what you imagine it would be. Maybe rooms down at the other end of the inn (higher numbered rooms) have a better view. Also, you’ll hear a soft beep like every 7 to 8 seconds if you get an ocean-view room. Know that this is a fog horn. Before you unpack, stay silent and see if it bothers you. If so, the inn might work with you on getting a room facing the highway. You can always wear ear plugs (I already had a pair with me). You might want to consider the 3rd floor because we were on the 2nd floor and we could hear every step taken in the room above us.

The Ugly (what no one talks about):  Unfortunately, Crescent City is a high crime area like many other California shore cities thanks to the homelessness problem that California created. Behind the inn (ocean-view rooms) is a road that many homeless people like to walk through. Some hold conversations, some play music. Thankfully they don’t stay around very long, but you’ll hear them. The inn also has signs warning you not to leave valuables in your vehicle. I would heed that advice.

Overall, we would stay here again because the inn itself provides what we need despite the homeless/crime issues. That’s not the inn’s fault. That fog horn might drive some people crazy. You decide.

We were hoping for more after reading reviews, but we’ve been disappointed with this stay. There were only two cheap pillows on each uncomfortable bed. Our key cards kept demagnetizing so we had to go all the way back down to the desk to get them working again. The breakfast was probably the biggest disappointment, bagels, yogurt, and cereal. We actually walked out and went to get something more substantial somewhere else. On the positive side, the room and bathroom was decently clean and the location is great.

We liked our stay at the Ocean View Inn. It's not over the top in any way but was clean, comfortable, the people were nice and it served its purpose for the night as we passed through.

Note, the hotel was showing no availability if you use apps like Expedia or Hotels Tonight. In fact the entire area was showing only poor reviewed rooms and at prices that were relatively high. Upon calling the hotel, they had two rooms left and at a price point lower than most all the others.

We had a bay view room which was uninspiring. Looks out onto a road and while the bay can be seen, it's not something I'd prioritize. Breakfast had no hot options other than bagels so we opted for the Apple Peddler which is next door. We usually are fine with a continental breakfast but were looking for something a bit more this time.

Location was fine, parking is good and we'd certainly stay again if needed. Just be sure to call the hotel rather than use the popular "stay" apps
