Oceanfront Hacienda - San Clemente, California

The location is what allows guests to ignore some downfalls and improvements that could be made. The fact you can lay in your bed and see the ocean from all of the rooms is a plus. The 2 min walk to restaurants and entertainment is a major plus. A few issues in the room we stayed in but not a deal breaker to stay there again. The shower head in the Grotto room was just down right gross. It's covered in "ick" and mineral deposits. Hard to feel clean when you're being showered in whatever is growing on that. The hotel gives you brown towels which always seem old and dirty, upgrading to white would go along way, same with the sheets. The pillows are also lumpy and sad but not awful. There is a thermostat that gives you false hope about cooling off the room in the summer but the fan they had and opening the windows was sufficient since there is no actual AC. Parking was a bit of a challenge but we did get lucky and got one right out front. Check the schedule for the beach that day as we arrived on a concert night which made it even more crowded. Also, know that the train passes by loudly and often if you're hoping to sleep in late. Otherwise it was a great night there and we will likely stay again sometime.

No interaction with anybody, key is left in a lock box. Room was OK, I would preferred a better room, I did not care for the room we had. Location of hotel was great.

Can’t beat the location but for the price I’m surprised by the amenities.
-The mattress was hard as a rock and there were springs poking us in our backs.
-The pillows were lumpy and not supportive. -The shower drain would not empty so you had to shower with dirty water soaking your feet.
-The towels were very coarse and abrasive.
-Some of the lights did not work.
-The couch was super old and not comfortable.
-The dining table and chairs were awkward together and not comfortable to sit or eat at.
-And nothing for the property to do, but guests should be warned about the street noise. Loud cars passed all night every night and on our last morning at 6:45 am a cleaning truck came to pump the port-o-potties on the beach across the way. Rude awakening for what we hoped would be a peaceful departure.

I’ll end with one compliment that the kitchen is well appointed. I was surprised to see that.

This place is absolutely beautiful, unique, and such a lovely spot to stay. Parking can be a bit tricky, but other than that, I am completely in love with Oceanfront Hacienda.

My buddy and I stayed in the Sombrero Suite, while in San Clemente in the beginning of April for a reunion on Camp Pendleton (62 Area). The room was awesome, the view was amazing and the location was spectacular (beach, restaurants/bars, pier all within mere feet of the Hacienda).

This place is the perfect mix between the privacy of an Air BnB and the convenience and service of a typical hotel chain. I will not stay anywhere else while in San Clemente moving forward.

Absolutely love this place! My wife and I stayed in the room right below the check in. Room has an awesome patio with great views of the ocean/pier, perfect spot just to chill, people watch and watch the sun go down. Room was very clean and even has Kitchen. Owner John very cool and down to earth. Made the check in process very simple. Thank you John! We’ll definitely be back soon :))

My boyfriend, Doug, and I have stayed here several times over the last year. It has become our favorite landing place when we are in Orange County. The rooms have ocean views and are a 3-minute walk to the surf. The units are clean, comfortable and charmingly styled in a Spanish style. The outdoor areas are lovely - with fountains, plants, comfortable seats and views. The owner/managers, John and Karen, are friendly, attentive and meticulous caretakers. I can’t think of anything to gripe about. The closest I can come to a complaint is that the coffee makers provided in the rooms are modern and nice, but make weak coffee (we like it really strong). Fortunately, there is a great coffee shop a few steps from the front entrance. A superb experience all around!

Not just a perfect location. The property has been lovingly restored to its original glory as one of the early Ole Hansen properties in San Clemente by John and Karen who live on the property. They couldn't be more friendly and helpful. The back apartment has a stunning view of the ocean and pier and is quiet, very comfortable and very well equipped with everything we needed for a 6 week stay. We were so impressed we booked for 2018 before we left.
