I almost didn't stay here because of all the bad reviews, but I was traveling with my two cats and had few options. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised. I had no problems at all. There is a hotel restaurant, which I was very thankful for after driving all day to not have to look for somewhere to eat. It was getting towards closing but they were very nice and told me to go back to my room and they would call when it was ready. The women working the front desk were nice. The room has laminated floor instead of carpet, but that's smart for a pet friendly place. It wasn't very sound proofed, but I've found that about many hotels. I recommend ear plugs whenever traveling and staying in hotels. The location was great. I know cleanliness was an issue with some of the reviews. I can't speak to their experience but my room was clean. Overall, I would very much recommend for people traveling with pets (I was very grateful for their very pet friendly policy), and people who care more about the location than luxury rooms.

It is a hugh shame that this hotel is in a good location and has such beautiful views of the ocean but is so rundown. Our room was spacious but not very clean - the carpets need to be deep-cleaned or better yet, replaced, and there was something black at the top of one of the walls that we couldn't distinguish if it was a dead bug or mold as we didn't want to get too close. Trash on the floors in the entrance lobby and hallways took a very long time to be picked up. Some of the staff at check-in and in the restaurant were not very welcoming or happy.|I would advise everyone to stay elsewhere in Crescent City.

Old and run down. Initially we thought it was just the normal shabbiness of a coastal town. But there were plenty of other places in town in much better shape. We got a king room with balcony and jacuzzi tub. The room was surface clean but not deeply. The floors were missing chunks and cracked, easily could have cut your feet. The bed was very comfortable but cheap old sheets and only very light bedding. The bathroom had lipstick on a pig. Terrible paint job. The hair dryer was severely cracked making me question its safety. The balcony was comfortable with two rockets but it was dirty and moldy with bird poo spider webs. Restaurant was ok, not the cleanest. The staff were all very friendly.

The room was a-okay. Nothing spectacular, but it was clean and spacious, and had a balcony so the view was great. Honestly the bed was incredibly comfortable though! Location wasn't bad either. I'd recommend walking over to SeaQuake brewing for a meal, but I'd stay the night here again if I came back through

Worst hotel stay I’ve ever experienced. I travel a lot and have lodged at motel 6 to higher end and this was the worst I’ve seen!! For almost $300 a night this is a blatant scam of an establishment. Upon entering the room we smelt heavy cigarette smoke. None of the amenities worked, the fridge and microwave were both broken along with the phone! Leaky faucet our whole stay, filthy pool and spa. Loud noise all night. Oh also was not informed at our arrival of broken elevator so after unloading all of our stuff to a cart, we had to unload it then walk up three flights of stairs multiple times to get our stuff to our room. Paid extra for the balcony but screen door was jammed and the “ocean view” was more of a weedy parking lot view. SAVE YOUR MONEY OR STAY ELSEWHERE! Ocean views are the only selling point and is not worth it!

DO NOT STAY HERE if you want a good experience. Rude, unfriendly, highly aggressive and moody staff, overpriced rooms that are not maintained or cleaned. MANAGEMENT DOES NOT CARE if you have a good experience or not. You will have to pay $.50 if you want a plastic fork. Dirty pool and spa. I could write up all the details of our stay, but you don't have time to read it because you have other hotels to look at. Next time I go to Crescent City, I'll stay at the Best Western or other branded hotel where I know I'll be treated with respect and get a reasonable rate on a cleaner room. The only redeeming quality was the view and that's because we were on the best side of the hotel view-wise. The other side is not desirable, at all. You won't stay in your room much, so the view isn't worth the poor treatment and disgusting room you are guaranteed to receive. I met several other very unhappy guests while there as well, including the family that checked in right behind me. Their room wasn't cleaned and they had to downsize to a small room for their large family at 10:45pm when they were exhausted from travelling, same as us. We waited 15 minutes just for someone to show up to check us in. We did not eat there. The menu was lack-luster and given the lack of cleanliness of the hotel in general, I can only image what the kitchen looks like.

I’m surprised this place got ANY ratings above 1. We stayed there 6/24. Here’s some detail:
This room was filthy! Dust under the bed was incredible mixed with hairs and some trash. The screen door to the balcony jammed whenever opening. The view would have been OK if the windows had ever been cleaned. We could barely see through from salt caked on. The attached 'restaurant' was privately owned so we paid for breakfast (we expected included breakfast?). We mistakenly ordered dinner there and roughly half the offerings were not in stock so we ate shrimp cocktail and salad where we were given plastic utensils (staff told us the washing system was out-of-order)... Huh! We moved on to a full service restaurant. NOTE: We would pitch a tent in driving rain before would stay here again. We were unable to secure a room anywhere else and we had no tent! It was a bad day a terrible stay.

I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. The hotel was filthy and the room was even worse. There was pet hair everywhere and what looked to be dried dog pee on the floor. We went to the front desk to ask for a new room as ours had obviously not been cleaned and she informed us they didn't have any other rooms available. The front desk gal was kind and very apologetic about the room. She said that because we had just checked in we could get a full refund and find a new place. I asked her if house keeping could just go clean it again but they were gone for the day. I asked her would it just be possible for us to clean the room and could we receive a discount? She said she wouldn't be able to approve that and the owner would need too. She sent him a message and we got a rude call moments later. He told me he looked at his records and his best housekeeper had been the one to clean that room. I asked him if he was sure and told him I would be happy to take photos for him if that helped. He said no that the room was fine and he would give me $20 off or a full refund and that I had 5 minutes to make a decision. I kept my cool and asked again if he'd like me to take photos for him, I did say I could send them to him or I could write a review. He didn't like that and told me he was going to call the police for trespassing or I could take the $20 or leave and get a full refund. We defiantly chose to leave and get our money back. I was already shocked with how dirty the whole place was but even more with how he treated us. It goes to show you get what you pay for but if that's what you get for $200 it's just gross and the owner is even worse. I was told that if I wrote a review he wouldn't give me my money back so now that I have my money here's my truth on my review. DO NOT STAY HERE!

I will say down the road at the Best Western it was great friendly service, clean room great breakfast and way more reasonable in price and you still get a view.
