We had an absolutely wonderful time on the Lyra with Captain Sophie. 6 of us went for an afternoon sail around the bay and anchored in Mackerel Cove for a swim. The weather wasn’t perfect, but Sophie was so calm and knowledgeable so we all were able to relax and enjoy ourselves while underway and at anchor. We sat mostly on the bow and were given cushions and control of a Bluetooth speaker. We had to end our sail early because of thunderstorms, and On Watch refunded part of our trip, which was totally unexpected and very thoughtful. I would have gladly paid full price! Everyone had a blast and we would definitely book again. Highly recommend adding an On Watch sail to your Newport trip!

The most wonderful sailing experience with Captain Green and his very capable daughter Caitlin. Delightful boat, great fun, ample chance to try your hand on the helm under expert tuition, Green offerswealth of local knowledge and humorous anecdote's. The perfect way to see and enjoy Newport , highly recommend.

Do this if you are in Newport! We added this on to our honeymoon the day before our sailing adventure and are so glad we did. The weather was perfect and Captain Green was not only knowledgeable but also just a joy to talk to. He told us history about the area as well as some local information for travelers. The sailboat is gorgeous, and you can bring snacks! Our two hour private boat tour will be a memory we can never forget… thank you so much for a wonderful experience!

What a spectacular day! The sailing experience will be forever embedded in our memories as one of the favorite things we did in Newport. Green and Simon are seasoned sailors and it showed. Very passionate about what they do, we sailed around the bay, to the bridge, while pointing out historical facts and places along the coastline. I recommend the 4 hour tour in order to embrace the full experience. Happy sailing!!!

Our family of 4 did a 2 hour private sail on Lyra and we loved it! Green and Simon were awesome, the boat is very nice. It was both exciting and relaxing. It was hard to choose with all of the sailing charters in Newport but we definitely made the right choice with OnWatchSailing! Would highly recommend.

Definitely book your sailing experience with this company. Don't even hesitate. We booked day of for an afternoon 1.5 hr sail. Which I honestly thought wouldn't happen but it happened to work out. We had Capt Green and he was so welcoming and accommodating to my 2 year old and our party of 5. The launch place was easy to find. It was a gorgeous day and a beautiful boat and an all around fun time.

We took a private half day sail to celebrate my birthday and it was exactly what we hoped it would be. Green was an excellent captain and took us to see the mansions from the water. He gave us our space to relax at the front of the boat and checked in on us to give us some local insight into what we were looking at. He also took pictures and shared a drone video that he took of the boat at sunset. Overall, I could not have pictured a better way to spend my birthday. We were so happy with our afternoon on the water. Thanks, Green!

Fantastic day on the water and “at the helm” of the Lyra. Such a beautiful ship and we were lucky enough to have a perfect day for sailing.
Captain Green was the perfect guide, story teller and seaman… Very knowledgeable of the area, historic vessels on the water, local culture and personalities.
He very graciously allowed us to take a turn at the helm to complete our sailing adventure.
Just a perfect day… thank you captain! 😎👍
