As a homeschooling mom traveling with three kids (11, 9, and 3 months), visiting a foreign country can be daunting. However, Phim from Passion Travel Services made our trip to Cuba completely stress-free. From the moment we landed, Phim took care of every detail, allowing me to focus on my children and enjoy the experience.

Our Airbnb was perfect—full of character with en suite bathrooms and a lovely wrap-around porch. Daily breakfasts included fresh juices from fruit trees on the property, and Phim even ensured it was close to a playground, where my kids made friends. It was clear that Phim’s attention to detail was impeccable, creating a perfect balance of family comfort and adventure.

The itinerary was packed with enriching experiences. We toured Havana in a classic car, visited artist Enrique Avila Gonzalez, creator of the famous Che sculpture, and experienced Cuban hospitality at its finest. The horseback tour through a family-run cigar farm in Viñales was a highlight, with my children riding independently through stunning mountains. They even practiced their Spanish and confidently navigated menus and conversations—an invaluable experience for any homeschooler.

A truly moving part of the trip was visiting Sister Theresa’s school in Old Havana to donate supplies. The children’s warmth and joy were unforgettable. Another highlight was the Afro-Cuban tour with Beyond Roots, where we participated in a spiritual ceremony, learned traditional dances, and enjoyed a meal with the family of a local Babalawo. This immersive cultural experience left a lasting impact.

Our day at Varadero Beach was equally special, and Phim went the extra mile by watching my baby so I could snorkel with my older kids. The beach was beautiful, and the fresh lobster for just $6 was a treat! Every part of the trip showcased Cuba’s rich culture, from city life to rural farms and breathtaking beaches.

Phim and her team, including the wonderful Camilo, made sure everything ran smoothly. Camilo captured precious moments for us, so I could be fully present without worrying about taking photos. He was incredibly helpful, assisting with bags and even entertaining the kids when needed.

Cuba’s people are welcoming, and Phim ensured we experienced every facet—from history to Afro-Cuban traditions. This trip was not only educational but also one of the most enriching worldschooling experiences for my children. One highlight of the trip was visiting the Elephant Sanctuary. It was truly heartwarming to walk and play with elephants that have been rescued. Experiencing firsthand the care and kindness shown to these magnificent creatures was deeply moving. It's a reminder that not all tourist areas around the world treat their animals with such compassion.

One of the greatest benefits of booking through this travel agency was NOT having to spend a lot of time planning a trip abroad; searching for safe/best places to lodge, looking for excursions, and popular sites to visit, to name a few. My visit to Egypt and Cuba were both amazing trips where we had the experience of a lifetime... enjoying some of the most amazing food, learning about the rich history of these countries, socializing with the locals, and touring breath taking sites like The Pyramids of Gyza and the Great Sphinx. The hot air balloon ride and crusing on the Nile River was also fun and exciting! In Havana, the airbnb we stayed in was just as amazing as it's staff there! I also enjoyed visiting the Catholic elementary school and meeting Sister Teresa (who founded the school for the underprivileged), the classic car tour with the entertaining local drivers, and visiting the home of local artist Enrique Avila Gonzalez and purchasing his artwork. Not to mention the refreshing mojitos that his wife made for us. ? These are just a few highlights of each trip! I would be remiss if I did not mention that we also met some awesome people in the groups we traveled with, which made our experiences that much more exciting and fun!
