This was a great tour.
Our first time in a windmill.

We learned a lot and had a fun time.
We enjoyed walking around and seeing the buildings and items in them.

The staff were friendly and knowledgeable.

Pella is probably one of the cleanest towns we've been to. The people are great and it was a fun time wandering around and visiting some of the shops. We loved the museum. The canal was amazing. The sunken garden was fun to walk to. So much to do here and great food choices.

Charming little village. Wish we had more time to explore but we came very late and only had 30 minutes before closing. The windmill itself is a guided tour only so check in advance when the tours take place. The lady at the counter that sold us tickets was super nice.

I LOVED this place! We came during the off season, so it was very calm with only a few other people there.
The staff were informative and kind. Our guide for the windmill was awesome! I wish I could remember his name so I could name him personally in this review.
The village outside was beautiful and so full of information! Wyatt Earp’s home was my favorite place to see. I never realized how sad his life’s story was.
Dogs are not welcome in here (pretty much the entire town of Pella, for that matter).
It was a tiny bit pricey ($15), but when you consider all the work that goes into maintaining a place like this it isn’t too bad.
100% recommend going there! I plan on going back.

We spent an afternoon that was too short visiting Pella's Tulip Festival.
They do a wonderful job landscaping the streets and the town square with beautiful tulips. They stagger the planting to be sure there are tulips in spite of unpredictable weather which is typical Iowa. The town was so neat and clean, the flowers abundant and amazing. It makes me wonder why I have never visited before. I would definitely enjoy a return visit to take in the museum, Vermeer Windmill, and guided tours.

Very cool Dutch town that is a great family experience! From the beautiful windmill to the home of legendary lawman Wyatt Earp to the historic style village, there is so much to like and tour here! You will see early examples of Dutch clothing, musical instruments, Delft China, examples of craftsmanship in metals and wood and so much more. Would make a nice weekend trip!

What a fun festival! We went to Pella, IA to attend the 89th Annual Tulip Festival. This town takes their Dutch heritage seriously! Dutch bakeries, meat markets, buildings, museums, wooden shoes and a working windmill that actually grinds flour. You can purchase the fresh flour in the gift shop below the windmill!
The Women's club was hosting a flower show in the Scholte House Museum. We even got to vote for our favorite arrangement.
There is a winery and a cheese factory (gouda cheese, of course) right outside of town.
This town has activities year round and I plan to go back!

Great place to visit in Pella of you have the chance. The windmill is mind blowing and the village will walk you through the first European settlers in the region. Learning about Wyatt Earp's life was fascinating. 100% recommendable;!;
