I do not recommend this place unless it is your last resort. When we booked this place there was a fence outside blocking the view of the industrial buildings which was great for an outside wedding. Until a storm tore the fence down and venue refused to replace it. Therefore we could not have an outdoor wedding due to what the background of our photos would look like. We were then told that they were going to put up large bushes to hide the view to the road. These ā€œlarge bushesā€ were thin, only two of them, and they were about 2 feet tall. We were told the outside of the building was going to be painted before our wedding, this did not happen. When we got there on Friday night for rehearsal there was food on the floor from lord knows when and it was covered in ants. There were also ants all over the kitchen. We brought this to the owners attention, she said she would handle it, it was not handled as the SAME FOOD was on the floor the following day when we came back to get ready for the wedding. Later during the day Saturday I noticed multiple ants crawling up my wedding dress and found out on Sunday that one of my guests found and ant IN THEIR DRINK. When we got to the venue Friday night we discovered they had no hot water, and there was a leak in the kitchen ceiling. The prep tables and floor were covered in water. While our family was in the kitchen Friday night preparing for the rehearsal dinner all of the lights went out in the kitchen. When we were there Saturday getting ready all but 4 of the lights in the bridal suite were burnt out. The floor in the entire venue was disgusting. Our flower girl was walking around with no shoes all morning and her feet were black when we looked at them to put her shoes on. There was also food on the floor in the bridal suite that was not ours. The grooms suite was extremely warm all day long, which was very uncomfortable for all of the men while they were getting ready. When we met with the owner for our final walk through we requested certain alcohol. She did not get the alcohol we requested and when we asked why she claimed the warehouse was sold out, which my husband used to work for the beer company and was able to ask a former coworker if they were out and they were not. For our ceremony we were doing a shot at the end of the aisle, the owner said she would have the shot ready for us. Luckily our photographer noticed that the shot was most definitely NOT ready and had my personal attendant do something quickly. The stage where people are normally putting their head tables is very unsafe as there are boards sticking up everywhere. And the floor by the stage has paint chipping everywhere and it looks horrible. I am very disappointed with what we paid for this venue with how many issues we had and how things were not handled the way they were supposed to be.

I was asked to officiate my friends wedding and they chose the Prairie View Event Hall as their venue. The venue had their fence fall down due to a storm, however, they were able to have both the wedding and reception inside so there were no issues. They even had center pieces there at the venue for them to use! The hall was lovely and the areas to get ready were spacious and comfortable. From what I understand, they are still working on renovations so it will be even better in the future.

I was considering this facility for a wedding reception and had talked to Melissa, all seemed great, the photos online looked great. My wedding planner called me and said there were 3 people in line for my date and so Melissa was sending me a contract to sign and invoice for half the cost, and I needed to sign and pay within 24 hours or I would lose the date. I didn’t have time to see the venue in person prior to signing. I paid and signed.
The first 2 people I told that I had booked that venue told me that they had been to a wedding there and it was not a well kept or updated venue when they saw it. I then went to an open house and saw the space for myself. I had to use the restroom when I first got there and honestly felt like I was using the restroom at a gas station in Belvedere, SD. (No offense - but if you have been there, you know.). I then went out and looked at the venue. The carpet in the bridal suite was loose and all bunched up by the doorway when you walked in. The whole Facility didn’t appear to have been updated in years. I only peaked in the kitchen, but it was very small and appeared dirty, which I found odd for an open house. I decided that the location would not work for us. Based on these reasons and several other things I noted at the open house, including staff interactions with other guests and the general disrepair of the building. I found another venue and called Melissa to cancel and ask if there was any possibility of receiving a partial refund of my down payment (half of the full cost of renting venue) if they were able to rebook. Melissa said no, and immediately seemed to become very defensive and aggressively told me that we had a contact that was legally binding. My tone had been kind, polite and not at all aggressive. I then told her that I didn’t want to offend her but I wanted to let her know why I felt the venue wouldn’t work for us. (As a business owner myself I always want the feedback to know what people are thinking.). As I calmly outlined what I described above, she started yelling over me. Stating amongst other things that the bathrooms were remodeled in 2017 and no one has EVER told them that the venue was anything other than top notch - the other 1 star reviews here contradict that. I finally hung up on her as she had elevated to screaming in my ear.
This for me went from, ā€œThis is not a venue I would use for a wedding.ā€ To not being willing to recommend it for anyone due to the extremely unprofessional response from Melissa.
After posting this- Melissa sent her ā€œflying monkeysā€ to attack me, creating as much drama as she can. Flat out lied not only in her response below but also calling people telling them I was saying things I didn’t say. She has moved from unprofessional to absolutely unhinged.

I couldn’t have asked for a better place to get married! Melissa was so great! She was very quick at answering all my questions throughout the planning process. They have different packages so you can rent centerpieces through them and they did a wonderful job setting everything up!

I am so glad we found Prairie View Event Hall! Few things I’d like to highlight is that they allow you to have your own caterer (which was very important to me since we were having Chick Fil-A), tables, chairs and table linens were included in the package. They had a bridal suite and groom’s suite available to use, they also had a section where you could hang your coats. We got the venue at a great price since we booked them when their package was on sale, it was a definitely STEAL! ā¤ļø There were things that we couldn’t do that wasn’t a deal breaker (cold sparks, confetti, own alcohol) Melissa made sure to explain the reasoning why we couldn’t do these which we understood. I had to plan this wedding 3 1/2 hours away and I was stressing on certain things like an officiant, rehearsal venue, few rentals and etc. She gave us solutions to these things which made planning go on smoother. We cannot help but express our gratitude to Melissa and happy we came across this awesome venue!

My fiance and I absolutely loved having our wedding here! Melissa was awesome and easy to work with and has done a wonderful job creating such a fun and beautiful space. The bridal suite and groom suite was perfect for getting ready and for photos! We were even able to include our dog rocky in our big day!
If you are looking for a venue that is luxurious, has many amenities for a very reasonable price then look no further!

We had the absolute best experience with Melissa & her team! Throughout the planning process, Melissa made sure to check in to see if there was anything she could help with and gave us recommendations when we asked. The day of the wedding went SO smooth and I know it wouldn’t have without the team at Prairie View. We had the absolute best time and received so many compliments on how nice the venue was! Thank you so much Melissa & team!

I am not the type of person to throw race into everything but what my family and I experienced here was enough to not only file a lawsuit but to write this very detailed review. Which I will also be sharing via my Social media accounts.

If you are African, or African American I STRONGLY advise against booking this event space. The blonde hair lady was the most unprofessional and rude individual I have ever met. Since the night started this woman was intentionally SEEKING a reason to cancel the wedding. The wedding that took 2 years to plan. Her behavior and demeanor was so vile and unwelcoming, but we tried to ignore it. First this woman stood outside in 100 degree weather body guarding the door because ā€œno one is coming in until 7ā€ as if just locking the door wasn’t enough. She stood out there with the worst attitude, arms folded, barricading the door. But we ignored her and went back to our cars and waited until 7. Then she accused people of stealing alcohol. How? When you have your own staff working behind the bar? But the worst of it all was when she went through the bridal parties rooms searching through all of their belongings while they were on the dance floor doing their walk in entrance dance. This woman insisted that she found 2 empty bottles of Hennessy (Outside Alcohol) and instead of talking to anyone, giving a announcement through the MC or talking to the people she signed a contract with, she decided to just cancel the wedding. Over an EMPTY BOTTLE that she did not see ANYONE DRINK or have proof of. The bottle was also empty when it came in the building. We tried to explain that the bridal party had to clear out the bus when they arrived, and the EMPTY bottle came from the bus. And the empty bottle was left in a bag deep under peoples clothes that they were changing into, so please understand that this woman was DEEP SEARCHING through personal belongings while no one was in the room. $1000 in ones also went missing during this ā€œsearchā€ that she claims she didn’t see, but yet you seen an empty bottle? Ruined someone’s day that they can not get back over an empty bottle. My family begged her, offered to give more money, pay a fine, ANYTHING that wouldn’t result to us being kicked out over a misunderstanding and this woman was so heartless and cold. She did not care. She was even laughing while telling the MC. That hurt my spirit. SHES ALSO DONE THIS TO 4 OTHER BLACK WEDDINGS!!!!!! She then weaponized the police by stating and I quote ā€œ If you don’t want it to get bad I suggest you leave before I call the policeā€ with a sick smile on her face. The feeling of disgust and shame this woman installed on my family and guest, that have traveled thousands of miles to celebrate such a beautiful moment was so unbearable that one of the maids of honor FAINTED! While this lady laughed and hid behind the police because she wanted to look scarred and as if her life was in danger. I STRONGLY STRONGLY ADVISE DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS EVENT HALL! If you are a person of color. As I stated before my family will be filing a lawsuit. This was the most awful experience ever. And it was supposed to be a beautiful day. And she ruined it with no remorse. 11 THOUSAND DOLLARS GONE. DO NOT BOOK!
