Positive: Great customer service staff are really nice. Breakfast was good. Negative: Only problem when we got in our room the back door patio wouldn?t open then they switch my room. It was really small. Cannot fit three people in there then they switch us to a bigger room. The TV did not work for $--- I would?ve rather got a Motel

Travelers beware!! (Sept 2024) My wife and I tend to stick with "brand name" hotel chains when going to a new area and were excited to see the beautiful Redwoods . HOWEVER, we almost walked out and back to the office to cancel upon seeing the room.

The location is great but the condition of this property is going to steer us away from the Choice hotel brand in the future if this is a property that they stand behind. I'm not unreasonable and understand that rugged coastal inns may sometimes be a bit rough around the edges due to the tough environment but the condition of our ground floor "suite" room was the result of pure neglect.

The photos are were just what we could see on the surface but: Exposed wiring, moldy & non functional windows, dirt in the corners and mildew? And, this was just what we could see. I'm not sending a picture of the mattress which was stained noisy.

In retrospect, I cant believe we actually stay but we were exhausted and had little choice at the time.

The breakfast was on par with what I would expect from a medium security prison. We passed and left as soon as we could.

The Choice leadership team needs to review the support they are giving the local property manager because this is a FAILURE. The only adequate level of service was from the front desk staff who were friendly and not probably responsible for the general neglect at this Choice Hotel.

At over $240/night, my advice is to LOOK ELSEWHERE at one of the other local independent hotels in Crescent City at all costs.
Just look at the pictures and ask yourself, if this a place where you'd feel comfortable.

The bat that slept hanging above our door didn't bother us much so we weren't concerned about rabies which was a relief...

Ouch Choice Brand.. Ouch.

I love crescent city i come to this hotel every year last year was a huge power outage due to fire which i dont mind but the guy who was at the front desk kept disapearing . Im glad whoever took over did i recently was there in june for my sons trup to santa cruz and it felt different maintinece seems to be a little moody and too much in charge , but deff different. I loved the new vibe and cleanliness from the last 5 years i will deffinetely be back on my yearly 101 trip , also i do recomend price changes because until the hotel is up to shape its way too much for these rooms. Ive traveled all over and for the location def needs a price change

Slightly older resort village hotel rated well by AAA.
rooms were clean with tile floors. Very dog friendly for an extra $25.
I would have preferred a 2nd floor with a beach view but still could see ocean from ground floor. Too bad its was Cloudy foggy and rainy.
Good breakfast with the normal hotel options.

Hotel is very rundown but I must say the management is outstanding. I'd give him a full 5 stars. Manager knows how to handle customers with respect and kindness. This young man should be managing a 5 star Hotel. For the last 20 years we have been traveling, staying in hotels 30% of the years. This young man was the best manager I've ever delt with.
Good luck to your further in hospitality young man!!

Better than I expected after reading some past reviews. Some upgrading done, clean and comfortable. The refrigerator freezer needed badly to be defrosted, everything else was satisfactory. The breakfast experience was great, all items were available, even though we ate late.

The room was andequate and clean. Seemed like some maintenance was required (ripped screen, etc). Two major issues: 1) there was no hot breakfast food available. We went down to eat during the scheduled time and there was only a bit of unseasoned potatoes, and were told it would be 20 min before any more was ready. Unfortunately we were on a schedule, and as I cannot eat gluten, all that was available was yogurt. Ultimately not a huge deal, but when you pay for breakfast it’s a bit disappointing. 2) When my husband was checking out, he was waiting at the front desk and the employee walked up behind him and scared him purposely. Like literally went “Boo!” when he walked up from behind him. Super bizarre. Overall it’s a good location and clean if you’re looking for just a place to sleep, but other than that I would look elsewhere.
