This is a moderate hike. I recommend bringing at least one trekking pole, backpack with supplies, snack and water. I did the 1.67 miles loop. At the start it had benches every once in a while but later did not.
A few places are inclined and you will have to climb over some fallen trees. This is not a well marked trail.
I did this hike on October 18,2024 the leaves were starting to turn. Sadly not good views due to many trees with the leaves. If you are wanting to see a good view I would suggest in going during November.
Also there are a few rocks you will have to use on the trail so go during dry spells.
The crash site was interesting along with Indian area.
Kids would need to be watched as the trails are narrow.
This trail is a one time for me mostly because I love the ones with waterfalls.

We walked the whole trail and saw no one. It was so good to be on this beautiful trail alone. Great views from the top. Interesting and somewhat varied flora. Wear long pants and repellent, and when you are done check for ticks!

Great hike for the family!!
The sign for the trail comes up on you quick on the highway so slow down a bit to catch it.
The start of the hike is an incline switchbacks gaining a little over 500' elevation. There is a large lower loop as well as an over look and a smaller loop on top of the mountain. Great history and sights to see throughout the entire hike. We put about 4 miles in total venturing around all of the trails on the mountain. The top gets pretty thick with plants so be prepared to send your tallest person in your group first so they can clear all the spider webs for you.

Very nice trail, lots of history and a very good scenic overlook of Jasper. You can see a the crash site of the B 25 bomber. We went in the evening and watched the sunset from the west ridge trail, it was amazing! Very good parking and easy to get to from town, right off of scenic 7 highway.

We took this hike in the fall while the leaves were actually falling. It’s very beautiful but the leaves do somewhat obscure the trail if it hasn’t been tramped down. We got to the southern end of the mountain and got a little confused but luckily we had two bars of cell service and Google maps had our location. Signage is not great on this trail and we had a couple trees that fell blocking the path that we had to go around. Parking was easy but the trail head is not marked from the highway. We hiked about 2.5 miles all the way around the ridge which was about 90 minutes for us with plenty of stops. There are plenty of short steep spots but I say this is a moderate to easy trail. The steepest bit is the switch backs getting up to the loop trail and the bit at the southern end to get over the ridge. On this trail you will see towering rocks, some with cave creating overhangs a B-25 crash site and lots of trees. Note that there are no restroom facilities. Recommended.

This is a nice hike. You have two entrances that you can drive up and park. Gravel roads.

Take a picture of the trail sign before you start. This will prove helpful as there are many ways to go. There is a paved trail at the bottom. You might be curious. We were and walked it. It's a dead end. Like don't even bother. Don't let your curiosity get the best of you.

We do the loop trail. And the North Trail.
Make sure and do the North Trail. The rock stair cases take you there. Once you top, you will have three ways to go. Go straight or to your right (if you are looking at the signs). Both will take you to the lookout, which has great picture taking ops.

The loop trail takes you by the plane wreckage. There is also a big tree that has fallen on the path. Just go around it and get back up. Shortly after will be poison ivy. Be clothed as this will touch you. Probably about 6 feet you walk through. The loop trail has pretty views, but the trees block most of them so you only get to see glimmers. You might encounter rock climbers on this trail. Something neat on this trail.....look for the rock that has a hole in it. Great little photo op. If you go behind it, there is a like a slot boulder. I say boulder since it's two boulders done like a slot. Kind of a fun hidden gem.

Lastly, we encountered quite a few dogs on the trail...nice friendly dogs....you know what else we encountered? Lots of dog poop. So if you weren't watching, you would step one of the fresh poop bombs. If you are bringing a doggie, please be kind and bring a baggie to pick up the doodie. Thanks!

Very pretty views. It is a very accessible hike, even for the elderly. We saw two older women who were very capable of taking the hike. The hike also has options. There are 3 different loops to choose from. And this trail also has features: a Native Indian settlement, a B-29 crash site, and two lookout points of the valley beyond. It's a great moderate hike due to it's elevation climb, it's well manicured paths, and the brush is relatively thin. Going during Fall or early Spring is best due to the high level of seed ticks during warmer months. Take caution to check yourself for critters.
