Maggie is top tier and absolutely executed perfectly on our wedding day. When people ask me if anything went wrong, my response is that if it did, I didn’t know about it! We chose the 6-month planning package, and the resources Lisa provided even before the official start of our planning period were invaluable. Her vendor list made it easy to find amazing people, and every vendor we talked to raved about working with her. Lisa’s checklists kept us confident that we were on top of things, and when we wavered, she offered the support we needed. Her organization, efficiency, and attention are unmatched, and she somehow made it feel easy to pull off a 150-person event seamlessly.

Lisa is also an absolutely brilliant florist! She was able to run with our small floral budget to utilize it to greatest effect. She executed something perfect for our personal aesthetics that complemented our venues perfectly (and flexed between two wildly different-feeling ceremony and reception venues, making it feel more cohesive!)

Our wedding was somewhat non-traditional, as an intercultural couple that also wanted to push back on some traditional ideas of what a wedding can be. She helped us refine our vision, weave together our cultural traditions in an authentic way, and execute on how to bring our people together, balancing creativity with practicality. There were never ideas too big or details too small for Lisa - she was always eager to ideate with us about what things could look like, and get real with us about what it would look like to execute. Whether you want a traditional or non-traditional celebration, Lisa will guide you every step of the way.

The day of any wedding can be an anxious and chaotic experience, but we never felt those feelings largely due to the tremendous support of Lisa and her staff. They were highly communicative and diligently prepared for just about anything. Their depth of experience really shines through on the day-of to ensure your sole focus will be on having fun with all of your loved ones.

We wanted a planner to keep us on track, but we got so much more—Lisa made us feel cared for and truly seen throughout our wedding planning process. Lisa is one of the most kind and genuine people we have ever met, and everyone we met on her team was equally incredible.

David and I hired the wedding planning team at Sachi & Maja - Maggie Chen (Lead Planner and Designer) with Jolene Hsu (Lead Planner) and Lisa Tsubouchi (CEO + Creative Director + Florals) - in January 2024, eight months prior to our wedding date. We selected their partial planning package with slight modifications to account for the fact that we were planning a Bay Area wedding while living in Washington DC. Planning a wedding long distance in an area of the country that only 50% of the couple is especially familiar with can become overwhelming very quickly. After doing a venue search using Google, I landed on the Redwood Grove at the UC Botanical Garden in Berkeley, which listed Sachi & Maja as one of their preferred wedding planning teams. Thank goodness. Best Internet search ever. After meeting with Lisa and then Maggie, we hired the team and gained access to their invaluable list of recommended Bay Area vendors and a planning team who not only executed our wedding plans with the highest levels of professionalism, but who also became friends with us throughout the process. We communicated with Maggie and Jolene regularly, using email and the Aisle Planner website, and met with them via Google Meet once a month prior to the wedding. In June 2024, we met Maggie and Jolene in person in Berkeley, CA. The four of us did the tasting at our reception site at the Berkeley City Club (BCC) followed by a full walkthrough of the venue and discussion of the event with the head of BCC's catering and event operations. Maggie knew all of the right questions to ask, which, no doubt, led to us having a successful (and beautiful) wedding reception. Of note, BCC presented multiple challenges immediately prior to the event, including a change to their head of catering and event operations approximately four weeks before our wedding. Maggie handled this transition smoothly by increasing her communication with the venue in order to ensure that BCC honored everything that they had previously agreed to. She handled day-of snafus at BCC professionally, discreetly, and made sure that they did not disrupt the event in any noticeable way.

Maggie designed the entire event - linens, flatware, signage, color scheme - and worked directly with Lisa on florals to ensure that everything coordinated perfectly. Her month-of coordination and day-of execution were pretty extraordinary. Everything started on time. All vendors showed up and provided the highest levels of service. Even the smallest details, like getting the corsages and boutonnieres to the wedding party prior to the ceremony but not too far in advance or collecting wedding gifts at the end of the evening, were executed perfectly. Above all else, David and I really felt like we had people helping us who were equally invested in the success of the event. Maggie and Jolene were supportive, thoughtful, kind, and they even weighed in on things like the color of David’s tie when asked. When I was nervous about the fit of my dress, both Maggie and Jolene quickly assured me that they knew how to sew and could take care of any last minute issues with the wedding gown. They made sure that there was breakfast and coffee (!!) delivered to my bridal suite, that David and I had a few moments of downtime between the ceremony and reception, and that guests made it either on to the shuttle to the hotel following the reception or to the after party. It was honestly the best wedding that I’ve ever been to. I genuinely miss this team and give them the highest of recommendations.

Working with Sachi & Maja for our coordination and florals was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding! We learned about them through our venue's preferred list and after our first call with Lisa, we knew we wanted to work with them.

For coordination, Maggie was our lead planner and she was amazing! She is incredibly detail oriented, professional, but personable and warm. Our day went perfectly, and we only have the most positive memories from the day. If things went wrong, we don't know and it was handled. Having a point of contact for all the logistics and not us was a game changer in terms of our overall experience. It truly was one of the best days of our lives!

For florals, I was in love with Lisa's creative vision from the jump. The florals she has done for her past couples were absolutely stunning, and I knew I just had to have her do our florals too. She absolutely did not disappoint. My bouquet was the most beautiful bouquet I have ever seen in my life, and I teared up when she presented it. The ceremony decor and table arrangements were a dream. I wanted loads of bright colors, and that's exactly what we got. They also created bouquets from our ceremony and reception florals as gifts to our guests, which was really special and important for us in terms of sustainability.

The Sachi & Maja team are absolutely amazing to work with, and I can't recommend them enough.

TLDR: If you are planning a wedding or event in the Bay Area, you should absolutely hire Lisa and her team for both florals and event coordination. Lisa did an unbelievably outstanding job with our January wedding in San Francisco. She executed our wedding flawlessly, and my husband and I truly enjoyed the most wonderful, beautiful, and stress-free celebration. She’s an incredibly kind, humble, efficient, and calming person…we are incredibly lucky to have met her and had her on our team, and I would not hesitate for a moment to recommend her!

Florals: Initially, the thing that captivated me and intrigued me the most about Sachi and Maja was Lisa’s floral work at a past wedding, where she had incorporated kale and mushrooms elegantly into a bridal bouquet. It was so creative and so beautiful, and I knew I wanted Lisa to be a part of my day. I gave her a general color palette, and threw out a crazy idea that I’d love oranges (a lucky Chinese fruit) in my bouquet. Lisa knocked it out of the park with our florals. She sourced beautiful and fresh flowers, and even incorporated baby oranges from a calamansi tree in her own backyard!! The other florals at the event (centerpiece arrangements, boutonnieres, corsages) followed the same theme, and added so much color and beauty to our wedding venue. I wouldn’t hesitate to work with her the next time I need beautiful arrangements.

Event Coordination: I knew I wanted someone else to handle the logistics on the day-of, and I’m so glad I brought Lisa on board. Lisa and her team were like ninjas behind the scenes. I didn’t spend a moment of the day worrying IF something was going to run smoothly…it just did. Lisa and her team took my vision and paper plans, and turned them into a reality beyond any of my expectations.

Immense gratitude and thanks for Lisa, Amber, Elisia! You were absolutely wonderful, and I just hope I get to be a guest at another amazing event you team pulls off!

Simply put, Sachi and Maja are creative and coordination geniuses! We were lucky to work with Lisa for florals and Alyssa for day-of coordination and couldn’t be more grateful. Working with Lisa was a dream. When my husband and I started our wedding planning journey we had calls with 5 different wedding planners. Lisa truly stood out and we never once thought twice about our decision to move forward with the Sachi & Maja Partial Planning package. She has such a supportive and calming presence, her organizational tools are goals, her industry connections are invaluable, she is simply a gem.

I acted as a wedding planner for three dear friends and knew I wanted to pass off allllll the stressful aspects of my wedding to someone else. Making the choice to spend a significant portion of our wedding budget on a planner was something I needed to convince my now husband about, he wasn’t sure. Luckily I’m persuasive and he wound up being super grateful to have her on board. During our wedding rehearsal Lisa had a brilliant idea and he exclaimed, “You are worth every penny!” The fact that the ONLY stressful part of our whole wedding (planning and the actual wedding day) was that our guest list got bigger than originally anticipated, and that was all my fault and ended up working out, is a testament to her vision, skills & spirit.

One delightful surprise we found working with Lisa are her “client hangs”. She’s had two so far where past and present clients as well as any of her staff who are up for it get together and hang out! The fact that we were psyched to join these says a lot about her as a person and businesswoman. The first one we went to was at a cafe close to our home in Berkeley and we were blown away that former clients-- get this -- a couple who had already gotten married, drove from the city over to Berkeley on a Sunday afternoon to see her! The following one was in the city and I shocked myself by wanting to go! 🙂

She also has “vendor hangs” where all of the wedding industry folks she's connected with get together. I’m almost certain this includes other wedding planners-- her competitors! What a gal. In this same vein, all of the recommended vendors from her team were absolutely fantastic and total professionals.

Lisa has a magnetic personality and though I’ve only met 4 of them, I am certain the whole team she has built at Sachi & Maja is fantastic. And, one of the people on our “day of team” was a former groom! And I’m trying to work for her too!

Hopefully you won’t have any regrets about your wedding planning process and your big day. I can guarantee that you will be many steps closer to that goal if you have Sachi & Maja on your side.

Working with Lisa and the Sachi and Maja team was the best decision we could have made in our wedding planning process!

My now-husband and I immediately meshed with her friendly attitude and her simultaneously chill and professional vibe. Over the course of our 1.5 year planning process, Lisa saved us soo much stress and time with her organizational tools, her design questions, her short-lists of recommended vendors, and bite-sized homework assignments for us. She managed vendor contracts and communications, which was also a big help for us. Lisa has such a positive, bubbly energy that emanates from her, we always left our meetings with a big smile on our faces. In all, it felt like she was our experienced guide who became our friend.

I would highly recommend her and her team for anyone’s wedding planning needs, especially if the team has worked at a particular venue before.
