We took both of Julie's "Instagramable" San Diego Tours. Since we loved the first one so much (the Coastal one), we also took the City Highlights one. And they are not duplicative of each other. Between the two tours, we saw so much in San Diego and she gave us so many tips about taking more interesting photos! We absolutely loved our time with Julie, we learned so much about San Diego and the region, and of course we have amazing photos. Don't hesitate to take a tour with her, even if you are not a professional level photographer, we just had camera phones and we are so happy we did this.

Who knew my camera could do so much? Julie knew and shared her knowledge freely and in plain English during a four-hour photo safari through a San Diego few visitors get to see. Julie took us to amazing places that we shot from little-known vantage points, producing unique photos and learning opportunities. Plus, a bonus: Julie's also a certified tour guide. Altogether time and money well spent!

I booked Julie for a 3hr personal tour of Presidio Hill and Balboa Park. She is quite knowledgeable about history, culture, and photography, and her passion for them is infectious. Not only did she incite a great deal of interest in San Diego, she armed me with tools and information that will help me further my skill in photography. Highly recommended Julie!
(PS, thanks to her, I am now capable of taking interesting and beautiful pictures of even dustbins…)

I have a new camera - first one for me with interchangeable lenses. With a trip to Europe coming up and a lot to learn, I thought a session with a photographer would accelerate my learning, teach me some great tips and tricks, and get me more comfortable with my new camera overall.
I spent 5 hrs with Julie and she was wonderful! She tailored the session exactly to my needs, and I got to see some great places in San Diego with a Cliffs-Notes style history and culture summary in the process (my choice - Julie could have gone a lot more in depth, but photography was my priority).
After the session, Julie followed up with an email containing a treasure-trove of tips and resources that will help me further advance my photography skillset. Best of all, she made it all really fun!

Loved the private tour with Julie. We came away with more confidence in how to adapt our camera to the scene, learned a lot about the history of San Diego, and had a fabulous time touring a couple of historic parts of San Diego. As very amateur photographers we had practice with composition, working in manual mode (compared to auto mode to see the difference), and sunset photography. We found the history of Old Town and Balboa to be fascinating. Julie was the perfect combination on instructor and guide. Julie built the private tour around our specific photography needs and our physical requirements. If you like to take pictures while travelling but feel your pictures could be better then this tour is for you!

Julie Kremen was awesome! I hired her for 9 private hours to take me out and take photos. Julie made sure to send me in advance of my trip a guide of where we were going, what equipment to bring, as well as photo tips. She picked me up at my hotel and took me to several places in San Diego to get some great photos. And she dropped me off at my hotel at the end of the session. Julie's enthusiasm for photography, the city and her clients seems boundless. She was full of facts about the history of different areas and points of interest. She pointed out different ways to take a photo and gave me tips on how to expose; she showed me examples on her camera and she'd step out of the way so I could take my photos. I highly recommend Julie and San Diego Photo Tours for anyone wanting to see San Diego. My only regret is running out of time and my limited budget to do more. I will be back for another tour with Julie!.

Julie provided an enlightening tour of downtown San Diego that would have been worthy investment of time and money just for the historic information she imparted. But that was just the beginning. She did an outstanding job of sharing her extensive knowledge of photography composition tips and tricks. She was very organized and included an excellent introductory package before the tour and an extensive follow up after the fact complete with valuable links to photo equipment, and instructional websites.
Julie is very energetic, passionate about photography and her city and it shows!
She is an excellent communicator and a delightful person to be around.
I would highly recommend her tour to anyone with even someone with a moderate interest in photography.

I recently went on Julie's downtown photography tour and I must say that the experience surpassed my expectations!

She inspired us to shoot creative shots that had interesting angles and artistic composition. I was impressed at how she was able to answer everybody’s gear-related and technical questions even though we all had different kinds of cameras and different skill levels —even me, a more advanced photographer than the others, learned some wonderful, new techniques; and I watched her adeptly teach some of the “novice” level participants how to comfortably shoot outside automatic mode.

I have lived in the area for 23 years and was unaware of the history of our great city. Julie's enthusiastic recounting of how San Diego was founded and the story behind each of the historical buildings that we photographed was fascinating. I have already recommend her tours to my local friends and out-of-town family and I plan to do a private tour with her in the future to further hone my photography skills and discover some lesser-known photogenic areas of San Diego. If you have even the slightest interest in photography or just want to learn more about San Diego, I encourage you to embark on a fun and informative tour with Julie Kremen of San Diego Photography Tours.
