We had a dreamy day on a mtn lake in Haines. We were picked up from our cruise ship, set off on a gorgeous ferry ride, and then Joe, the owner of Seak, met us to take us for our kayak adventure. He was a great guide, driving us the short distance to the lake and thinking of everything—from the kayak bib (so we wouldn’t get wet) to gently setting us into the lake (so we wouldn’t even need to set our foot into the water if we didn’t want to). It was royal treatment. The pace was chill, the views spectacular, and Joe’s knowledge, patience, and kindness were 5 star. After, we were given yummy, healthy-ish snacks, including gluten free crackers. It was a lovely afternoon.

Joe was extremely patient and easy to work with from the time we first contacted him, through multiple rescheduling episodes (covid, etc.), and throughout our trip several years after we first made contact. His knowledge and experience were excellent as he helped personalize our trip and adjust for weather. We initially had planned a 4 day/3 night kayaking/camping trip on the Fjord, but as uncooperative weather threatened to cancel our trip, he helped us adjust to a day of paddling on Chilkoot lake and 3 days/2 nights of kayaking/camping/hiking/fishing on the Fjord. Our knowledgeable and experienced guide helped us become comfortable kayaking, helped make an outstanding camping trip including cooking excellent meals. Joe was also very helpful to connect us with other business and services in Haines during our stay. He and his guide went above and beyond to make our trip amazing. With Joe and our guide's help, we felt like we were in a postcard for a week. Incredible.

We had a great time kayaking on Chilkoot Lake! Our guide Joe was very knowledgeable and friendly. The tour group sizes are on the smaller size, which was very nice. We saw a lot of salmon and were told it is not uncommon to see bears on the shore, but we did not see any that day. The lake itself was gorgeous and we are so glad we were able to go on this tour!

This kayak tour took us through a doorway to a bit of heaven on earth! Such a precious, divine, perfectly balanced area of good ole mother earth! This Glacier fed lake is a perfect balance for the spawning salmon, bald eagles, beautiful moss growing on all of the trees, logs, rocks, even old mans beard hanging from the trees, so thick and thriving. 4 waterfalls flowing down the mountains face, feeding the lake and all of its life! Big rocks which were floated and carried inside icebergs through this lake and now rest on the waters edge. The misty light fog which feeds all of the life in this perfectly balanced piece of mother earth is so serene and amazing. You want to see, hear, feel, smell and taste heaven on earth? This is a doorway to just that. Thank you for showing me this place of true wonder and amazement! Kathleen Smith from Utah

I was lucky enough to go on an Island Hopping tour with Charlie from SEAK Expeditions/Adventure. The process was easy from booking until we pulled the kayaks out of the water Charlie was always helpful and responsive to all of my questions and emails. He was able to adjust his booking calendar to let me book for just one person. When my ship was going to be late into port he let me change the date of my paddle. And when the day finally came with perfect weather he tailored the tour to me and my kayaking experience. This tour will let you see Alaska from a different perspective, the mountains and volcanoes look even better when you are so close to sea level. I was lucky enough to even see sea otters swimming and popping up in front of my boat! Whether you are an experienced paddler and want to go the 12 miles I did in a solo kayak or a beginner and want to stay out of the waves and wind in a more steady and safe tandem kayak Charlie and SEAK have the tour for you.

SEAK Expeditions provided an excellent 3-day kayak trip and took great care of the four of us who are in our 60s and 70s. Our guide, Liz, was a complete joy! She kept us comfortable and safe. They accommodated our dietary needs without hesitation and provided healthy, nutritious, and delicious meals with more than we could eat. All kayaking and camping gear was provided, so we didn’t have to haul that on the ferry. I would definitely do another trip with SEAK if I make it back to SE Alaska!

SEAK led our 7-day kayaking trip out of Haines. This was our first overnight sea kayaking trip and given the dates that worked with our schedule, we were the only two folks on our trip (along with our phenomenal guide – Beth).

Joe and SEAK were nothing but phenomenal through the entire process – starting with coordinating our itinerary. He was responsive throughout our planning process and worked with us to select an itinerary that was best for our capabilities and gave us a chance to appreciate Southeast Alaska and its beauty. We were also grateful that he worked with us on tips for travel to Haines from Juneau, and he even picked us up from the ferry!

Our time on the water was spectacular. Our guide Beth was world-class and so great to be around and learn from every day. She was so well-versed not only on kayaking and camping, but also the area and its history. We paddled a lot over 5 days (two days were rest days/non-paddling days for weather and made for great hiking days!). By the end we felt so much more confident in the kayak and fell in love with the area. The meals were awesome, and ending each night with a fire while enjoying the day’s work was really phenomenal.

We can’t say enough good things about SEAK and Joe’s team. Haines is an awesome town and it’s the perfect place to see Alaska in the way it’s meant to be seen.
