I reserved a room for several nights via American Express. The staff was very friendly and assisted when I asked for accommodations of one unexpected traveler, one of my kids. They upgraded our room to a slightly larger one and were aware upon check in and asked if we needed a roll in bed. Service was out of this world. I wish I paid more attention to the names, but everyone was friendly and helpful.

The room was clean and modern. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom had both a shower and a tub larger enough for me. (that's saying something). Everything was spotlessly clean.

The restaurant adjacent to the hotel, but associated with it, was also great.

Oh, there is an A, B and C train station entrance right outside the front door, so if you want to go to Times Square, you're 1 express train and 13 minutes away. It was great.

The hotel is just a few minutes walk from the Twin Towers memorial and the new World Trade building and just a short walk from Battery Park which is one of our favorites for walking in the evening.

We will stay there again when visiting NYC.

My girlfriend and I stayed here for Valentines Day weekend because the location was great for the reservations we had set up. When we arrived it was already an hour past check in time and they immediately informed us that the room was still not ready, and that maintenance was working on something and didn’t have a time estimate. Luckily, we went to the bar next door and within 30min it was ready. Once we got to the room it wreaked of smoke (I imagine the issue was the people before us smoked in the room). We bought febreze and opened the windows to get rid of the smell which only worked so so. We then shortly after realized the bathtub drain was broke and wouldn’t drain after it was filled up. The next day maintenance fixed it for us. On our second day when we got back from
Our daytime activities to take a quick nap we were welcomed by a completely soaked set of sheets and pillow cases from the cleaning staff which we had to call down and get replaced. Overall, for what this hotel advertises itself as, we certainly don’t feel that it measured up. We will not be staying again with the infinite options in the city this place was nothing special.

Great hotel in the perfect location! Rooms are clean, comfortable and well appointed. Great desk area for a work trip. Excellent subway access -- you can get anywhere in the city in just minutes. Staff friendly and accommodating. Restaurant on site very good. It's my go-to hotel in NYC (after having searched for over 25 years!).

A lovely hotel, very convenient location near subway stations and some good restaurants. Despite the busy location, my room was very quiet since it didn't face the street. A relativity large room (for NY) which was very clean and comfortable with a modern bathroom.||||Extremely helpful and friendly reception staff were always ready with a smile and advice. I arrived early and was allowed to sit in the empty bar whilst my room was prepared.||||A real gem, I would definitely return!

GREAT location, Amazing customer service and well maintained hotel - highly recommend!!||We came for a small wedding and had everything we needed steps from the hotel entrance - the street was an easy pick up spot for Uber/taxi/lyft and less than a minute walk to subway entrance. Zucker’s bagels and Ol’days is less than a minute walk and both recommended!

Pre-marathon weekend. My in-laws came in from Australia for the marathon early and wanted to stay downtown before the race so we decided on the Smyth before heading uptown before race weekend. We sure are glad we did. ||The front desk staff are kind and friendly, and are keen to make sure you're feeling welcomed and accommodated. Rooms are quiet (for NY), comfortable, with good natural light. Only complaint would be a request for more places to plug electronic equipment.||We had an issue with housekeeping rubbish that was left outside the hallways whilst there, that left for some unsightly experiences, that the front desk addressed once brought to their attention, which we were very satisfied with.

We stayed here for a birthday party in the neighborhood. We previously lived in this neighborhood, but this was our first time staying here. The staff is very friendly. The room is a good size and very clean with an excellent bathroom with quality bathroom products and a nice robe. The bed and pillows were also excellent. The only thing I missed was having coffee in the room.

After doing much research for a getaway anniversary night I chose the Smyth. I opted for a nicer room and paid extra for it. When I arrived the person at the front desk greeted me and was awaiting my arrival. He told me there was an issue with my room chosen and rather than providing an upgrade which generally would happen when these type of things happen. I was told I was being downgraded to an inferior room. The room was old and not renovated like the room I originally booked and the size seemed a lot smaller. The carpets were very dirty and stained. It was too late to make new arrangements which left me no choice but to stay in this room. They offered me minimal compensation which I have yet to even see. Very disappointing.
