Pretty basic motel experience. Room is larger but reviews are right that it's a little grungy. Dust and not quite clean.
The huge negative was the surprise "Resort Fee":
a. This isn't a "Resort". This is a pretty basic 1-clerk motel.
b. This was never mentioned at booking.
c. This was never mentioned at check-in.
d. No receipt was provided so this was just a surprise on the credit card bill. (Yes, I am going to have it reversed). They have my email and text and sent me a survey - but never bothered to send a receipt.

I was appalled to pay a premium rate only to find myself in a worn-out and foul-smelling room. The entire experience was deeply disappointing. The hot tub was not only dated but also filthy, with visible dirt floating on the surface and an overpowering smell of chlorine. The property itself feels neglected and poorly maintained, with signs of decay everywhere. It’s clear that this hotel has seen better days. Absolutely not worth the money—do yourself a favor and look elsewhere

I was shocked at how run down and cheap looking this "luxury" resort is during our recent stay. The girl who checked us in was lovely, but the overall professionalism of some of the other staff was laughable. The room was spacious, and the bed was comfortable. However, the whole place needs some serious updating. Chipped paint, fake plants, broken blinds and windows that were hard to open. In terms of cleanliness, it was clean enough. Our soap dispenser in the shower was empty and there were no extra towels. Again, for a "luxury" hotel, I expected some nice bathroom amenities, but they seemed cheap. As another traveler mentioned, the pool was surprisingly small. Lastly, for "welcome wine and snacks," we were gifted a bag of home-made Chex mix that was stale (and a poor effort for a luxury hotel). The location is superb, but the hotel itself (for the price you pay) is subpar.

I've stayed here over many years... sometimes solo, sometimes with my wife and pup. First and foremost this resort has the feel of an old school establishment in a European village. Very casual and quiet, a family run type of place. The rooms range from very large to cozy. The grounds are prefect for those with pups... the back lawn, a ball and a golden retriever. The drive to Bodega Bay is easy... the breakfast competent and fresh... there's a reason we stay here quite a bit.

I have to admit I'm rather mixed about this Sonoma resort hotel. The website photos made it look quite luxuriant, but the reality is that the place felt dated in a state of flux in relation to getaway poshness. When my husband and I decided to spend a weekend in Bodega Bay, this looked like it had possibilities. We definitely liked receiving a complimentary glass of red wine upon check-in.||||On the upside, the room we reserved was huge with a fireplace and a sofa. Of course it should be nice for $450 a night (tax included). The Australian rain shower head was a plus in the huge shower stall, and the double sink vanity was set far apart. The cracks started to show with the TV where we discovered our selection menu was stuck on straight porn. Just our luck.||||It was obviously the preference of the previous room occupant. The staff was not able to rectify the situation but to no avail. Not even local channels were available, so we decided to refocus on the fireplace. Despite several attempts to spark a lasting flame, the logs just refused to ignite. We were left with the jacuzzi which was already overrun with unsupervised rambunctious children. ||||That left us alone with our iPhones to watch videos reflecting our own proclivities. Gee, we could've done that at home. We did take advantage of the complimentary s'more kits but only after they were ransacked by the families occupying the other rooms. The breakfast buffet was a bit of a meh, and I'll just let my photo speak for itself. Other amenities included a pool.||||There was a play area in the back where a family was playing badminton in the late afternoon. It doubles as an outdoor movie theatre at night. In the lobby was a spiral staircase that led up to a game and reading room with a view. We were informed there was a recent change in ownership, and plans are underway for major renovations. And none too soon.

This hotel was filthy and run down. The bed was clean and so were the bathrooms but everything else was dirty. I complained to Lori, the general manager via email but she didn't reply to me. Sad. Otherwise they have good French toast in the morning and somores at night by the fire and a movie. If you don't care about level 2.5 cleanliness then you may like it.

Breakfast was great. We enjoyed the glass of wine after the drive. Next time we will take advantage of movie nights under the stars.
