Ian was a great group guide establishing a good pace, taking pictures, and checking in with each of us individually. Prepared, knowledgeable, and patient, he made the hike successful for an older crowd.

Truly a hike of a lifetime with memories to match. I will highly recommend your service and the easy and seamless process from start to finish... except for the 52,500 steps — they were a challenge. Thank you Ian!!

We had an absolute blast on our private (4 person) trip with Michelle. She is an amazing guide, filled with tons of useful (and some useless!) knowledge, has a good sense of humor, and is a great cook. Our September weekend in the Sierras was one to remember, with beautiful sites, great (cold) dips in the lake, amazing sunrises and sunsets, and a great camping location. Overall, Michelle and SYMG made our lives super easy as we travelled in from Michigan and we 100% recommend her and them!

For Christmas, my daughter made me a "gift certificate” to climb Half Dome. To get it done we called SYMG. Perfect! They got the lottery tickets required for the climb, organized the hike out and just made everything work. If you find yourself saying, “some day I'm going to….” -stop it. Call Southern Yosemite Mountian Guides and make it happen. We had the adventure of a lifetime! Well, maybe it won’t be of a lifetime, because we’re going to go on another one with SYMG.

SYMG is the best of the best mountain guide companies you can possibly find to take you out into the back country. If you want a real, authentic, back country experience look no further. I've gone on two trips with them. First was the Yosemite Half Dome trip a few years ago with Conner and Thomas. It was epic - swimming in a pristine mountain lake and going up the cables at Half Dome for the first time - it was thrilling and I felt safe while doing it (being a Capricorn and all). We were there when the Creek fire broke at the end of our trip so we had a quick plan evacuation which got us to the valley floor in a timely way while not missing any of Yosemite's grandeur. My second experience was the Trans-Sierra trip last summer. While I thought the first trip was epic - this one showed me what epic really is. SYMG scouts out the most spectacular routes through the most remote areas - off the beaten track, the whole thing was special and breathtaking. Colby Pass was incredible! Riley was outstanding as our guide and he didn't just subtly take good care of us but he played his guitar on trail and at camp, prepared the most delicious meals, and prepped us to feel confident, challenged and independent, which has helped prep me for planning my own solo back country trips today. I owe SYMG my gratitude for new skills, confidence, and deeper appreciation for stewardship of the planet. Thank you SYMG!!!

Had an AMAZING experience with our rock climbing guide, Chris, out in Fresno Dome! My partner and I were celebrating our one-year anniversary (we met as indoor gym rock climbers) and wanted to do something special. Wanting to gain more outdoor knowledge, we decided to hire a guide for rock climbing in Yosemite and I’m so glad we went with SYMG. It was seamless and easy, we only brought our shoes and harness (you can rent if you don’t have those) and Chris provided all other equipment including ropes, carabiners, backup helmets, belay devices, slings, etc. Fresno Dome was absolutely amazing, as it's an unheard gem that we had to ourselves. It offered us great routes both challenging and chill to choose from. Chris really took the time to get to know us and took into account everything we were looking for in a guided session. This included learning valuable and safe techniques that improved our climbing . He assessed what we already knew and expanded on it, all while giving us tons of hands-on training. He was amazing at figuring out how much to push us but we still felt very safe through it all + he was a great conversationalist who made us feel right at home at the crag - Chris truly made the entire trip an unforgettable experience!

Rae Lakes Loop is stunningly beautiful. Our guides Riley and Emma were both fantastic and made a great team! I learned a ton about the local flora and fauna, and loved their stories. Great option for beginner backpackers as long as you train up to the pack weight.

SYMG Guides Zoe and Fred made it possible for Bill Outlaw to summit Half Dome on his 90th birthday! They were patient, kind, and compassionate to all group members and were eager to help with any task at all times. The menu planning was excellent and we ate better on the trail than we do at home. Thank you for the wonderful family experience. We highly recommend SYMG!
