This was our second stay at Surety and, once again, it did not disappoint!!! Upon entrance, the hotel lobby is warm, expansive, beautifully appointed and so welcoming. Front desk staff very friendly, check in was a breeze. |As the hotel does not offer valet parking, and street parking is difficult, we chose to pay a bit extra for the onsite underground parking, located adjacent to the building. Very easy and convenient! |Rooms are large, gorgeous, clean and comfortable. We were in a room facing the Main Street but were 7 floors up, so road noise wasn’t too bad, I’d ask for an upper floor room if you are sensitive to noise, though, as I’d guess lower floor, street facing rooms may be noisy. |We ate at the attached restaurant/lounge and it was great! Good service, great cocktails and yummy food. |This will always be our go to hotel when stopping through Des Moines!

To start--the room and hotel are beautiful. We stayed on the 10th floor in a King sized guestroom. The room was more than we expected. The bed, linens and pillows were WONDERFUL. The bathroom is gorgeous and the shower was PERFECTION. I wish more hotels had showers like this. Downside--they only had 1 large towel and 1 medium towel--wish I would have known that before the two of us jumped into the shower, we made it work and next time will remember to ask for a second large towel. Downside 2: 1-ply toilet paper---which was super weird for a higher end hotel. Loved the bedside chargers, again, wish this was something more hotels offered. ||We used the hotel bar after our show we attended, drinks were good, little pricey, but expected. Bartender was great. We enjoyed the lobby while we waited for our midnight snacks to be delivered and its so cozy and comfy with a fireplace. ||We ordered room service for breakfast the next morning. The brunch starts at 10. We ordered shortly after 10, didn't get the food until a little after 11. Which then caused a bit of a rush, as checkout is at noon. Also, downside 3--there is only one chair in the room, so we had to drag the table over so one of us could sit on the edge of the bed to eat at the table. Next time we will just go down to eat. The food was good. I got the pancake stack--that was AMAZING. Comes with lots of toppings to use. Also got the regular breakfast of eggs, potatoes, toast and bacon--the potatoes are WONDERFUL. We also tried the biscuits and gravy and were not fans. Just personal preference. ||Check out was super easy. Staff was wonderful to work with and they were always pleasant. Hotel is clean and easy to get to. Parking is a bit of a pain, but we found a lot just a block over and it was just 10 bucks to park.

I was fortunate to be able to stay at the Surety Hotel for two separate business stays from February-March 2025. The staff of the hotel are remarkable - they got to know me and my colleagues by name and treated us like family from the first night we arrived until the morning we left! The front desk manager, Brooklyn, was always incredibly helpful and she even held onto some items of mine behind the desk when I had to check out of the hotel for a few days (returning a few days later). She was always ready with recommendations for places to visit, and wanted to help in every way possible. ||I also got to know the Director of Sales, Emily Kix, who graciously helped me and my colleagues with some complimentary conference room rentals for some business related matters during our stay. She was always willing to help in any way possible and made us feel so welcome.||The rooms, the service, the tavern, and the whole experience at the Surety Hotel are wonderful. I really hope to come back again soon!

The hotel seemed great when we arrived. Check in went smoothly as the front desk man ran through his speech and took our info to check us into our room. I was then told it would be $25 additional charge to park our car, which I didn't see on the web site when I booked the room. I was also told that parking was as available, if it was full we'd park on the street, in downtown Des Moines. Luckily there was still a spot in the outside lot. We got to our room and ordered room service, paid $81 plus tip and my wife's food was burnt. Then the ambulance and police sirens went off across the street for what appeared to be an unconscious homeless man. You could also hear the next door room through the wall. On the plus side the bed was comfortable. But, in short, I probably won't be staying here again. Edit: the desk clerk did credit the parking and my wife's meal.

Sean and Edd were the most friendliest front desk associates I have dealt with at a hotel. I have to travel a lot for work and this was my first time in Des Moines. Surety really made my experience a great one. Due to the snow storm this Wednesday, I wasn't sure if my flight was going to be delayed but first they gave me a late checkout at 3 PM. When my flight was cancelled, they managed to let me pay for another night to stay. Thank you so much for your great service and making my trip great. Also, the room and the hotel in general is beautiful! Well equipped gym as well!

The quality of the wood finishes, the marble, the wall of windows, the wet bar, and the updated bathroom and amenities are hard to beat. The room tech with the TV and music was seamless. Good vibe in the lobby. Centrally located, nice view from the room.

I had the pleasure of checking in to Surety twice over two weeks last month, and I was blown away by the spectacular and wonderful stay I experienced in Des Moines. Perfectly placed downtown and with the Mulberry Tavern available downstairs, you’ll feel right at home. The service was beyond accommodating and really helped me feel right at home. Brooklyn, Logan, Dolph, Josie, Ed, and Sean were exceptional and every conversation was always friendly and helpful. It was a wonderful experience I’m looking forward to reprising the next time I’m in Des Moine: Cheers to Surety and Mulberry Tavern as a class act in hospitality and service!
