Tappan Square in Oberlin is a cherished spot for me, especially because my wife’s grandpa built the bandstand there. The square’s blend of history and natural beauty makes it a perfect place to relax and enjoy the surroundings. The bandstand, with its unique design, adds a special charm and serves as a hub for community events and performances. Knowing the personal connection my family has to this landmark makes every visit even more meaningful. Whether you’re attending a concert or simply taking a leisurely stroll, Tappan Square offers a serene and inviting atmosphere that’s hard to beat.

The Clark Bandstand, erected in 1987 and designed by Oberlin alumnus Julian Smith, evokes the image of a carnival cart from China.

Tappan Square is a 13-acre public park and National Historic Landmark at the center of Oberlin, Ohio. It was designed by the esteemed duo of Frederick Law Olmsted Jr. and John Charles Olmsted.

I went during spring brake and all of the campus buildings were closed and under maintenance. This whole town is Rich with amazing architecture and I plan to see it in every season. I'm not from here but I will be coming back their public spaces are well above what I would expect for a town this size.

College town fit for a millennial. The park square was full of scenery and squirrels. The grass was soft and well kept.
