It’s a unique property with so many beautiful details in the decor. Staff is lovely and very engaging. Walking distance to some of the great restaurants in town. There’s no TV in the room and I missed that detail when booking. We found a great spot next door to watch the basketball game that night. The breakfast was lovely and we had a drink at the bar Saturday night with live music. It was really perfect!

A Perfect Valentine’s Dinner at The Courtroom – Abner Hotel: Our Valentine’s Day dinner at The Courtroom in the Abner Hotel was nothing short of spectacular. Located on the second floor, the restaurant welcomes you with a stunning lobby and fireplace, setting the stage for an unforgettable evening. The main dining room is beautifully designed, offering both elegance and incredible acoustics—ideal for enjoying the wonderful Brooklyn-based jazz trio playing old-time classics.

The food was just as impressive as the ambiance. We started with the indulgent mushroom croquettes and the refreshing Amber salad, followed by perfectly prepared baked cod and a decadent lobster Newburgh we simply couldn’t resist. Dessert was equally exceptional—a delicate meringue cake and a rich Arethusa Farms ice cream sundae that left us savoring every last bite.

Despite the restaurant being busy, the service was attentive, and the lively yet intimate atmosphere made for enjoyable conversations with fellow guests. We left absolutely satisfied and are already looking forward to returning in the spring to experience the rooftop bar. The Courtroom is a true gem—elevated dining with charm, character, and an experience worth savoring.

We came for The Courtroom Restaurant inside the hotel. Dinner was fantastic, and the service was excellent! I am looking forward to trying the rooftop bar during the warmer months. The lobby and restaurant are both beautifully designed and are super cozy, welcoming spaces. Would love to stay in a room one day. Overall, the Abner Hotel is a great new addition to Downtown Litchfield!

We ate at the courthouse and it was fantastic - bolognese and burger were yummy. Breakfast was another highlight and we loved chatting with Stephanie. Rooms were lovely, beds were comfortable, bathrooms were great. There was a hand written note in our room and throughout our stay there were various personal touches that made our stay extra special. Highly recommend.

Very tasty meal!!! Did not stay at the hotel (though it must be said that the renovations are stellar), but my wife and I enjoyed our dinner at the restaurant. All food offerings, especially the Cottage Pie, were delicious. Great cocktails too, but watch out for drinks on the rocks because you will be charged for ice. The decor of the restaurant was a bit muted besides one giant avant-garde geometric painting, but still nice despite the departure from the old courthouse. All in all it was a fun experience and looking forward to trying out the rooftop bar when available.

On September 18, a friend and I went to check out the new boutique hotel in Litchfield, which is a converted county courthouse building constructed in 1890. We had made a dinner reservation at their restaurant (The Courtroom) and had a drink before dinner at the rooftop bar (The Verdict.)||Our evening there was a wonderful experience, more amazing given that the hotel had been open for less than a week, and it was only the fifth evening for the restaurant. Without exception, all the staff was so nice and helpful—the woman at the front desk, the bartender at the rooftop bar, the restaurant maĆ®tre d, and our server at dinner.||The rooftop bar was a lovely way to spend a hour in such a well-designed and comfortable space. The restaurant is in the old courtroom and is a nice mix of vintage and contemporary. Both the service and our dinners were superb. We shared the homemade chips and dip, followed by a Caesar salad, and the steak frites and baked stuffed cod. All were excellent. Timing of the courses was perfect, not rushed or seemingly slow. ||Overall, a wonderful evening in a unique and welcoming place.

Great experience! Beds are comfortable, very clean, and pet friendly!

We stayed for one night in October and the service and accommodations couldn’t have been better! The building is historic and they performed the restoration so well. Lots of original bits all around. Even the new stuff is expensive and rich.

We had dinner at the restaurant as well. This was the highlight. The food was high quality and done perfectly. It really surprised us. We’d drive an hour to eat here if ever in the area again.

If there were any oddities or areas of improvement I’d say it was the lack of water pressure(conservation gone too far šŸ˜‚) and no TV’s in the rooms(not a big deal with everyone having everything on their phones).

Honestly I couldn’t come up with another criticism. It was great.

My husband and I went to The Abner for a quick overnight birthday getaway. We had recently heard about the new hotel and were intrigued by its setting (an old courthouse). We arrived for check in and were greeted promptly and shown around the hotel, before being taken to our room. We had a large room with a king bed, couch and a small table with chairs. The decor is unique and the incredibly large windows provided so much light. In case it’s important for any future travelers, the rooms don’t have TVs. My only complaint about the room would be that there is not adequate storage for clothing. We only stayed one night so we packed lightly. There is an area for hanging items, but there is not a dresser or drawers of any sort. We visited Verdict (the rooftop bar) for drinks before dinner. It’s a great space with a variety of seating options, interesting cocktails and nice views. We ate dinner in the hotel restaurant which is in the old courtroom. It was quite busy for a Sunday night. We started with house made potato chips and French onion dip and also shared the grilled peaches. For entrees we tried the halibut with ginger lobster sauce and steak frites. Portions were really generous and the food was very good. The service was overall good, but spotty at times. The starters came quickly but we waited quite a bit for the entrees. The lamp on the table was leaking oil all over so that had to be taken care of (required removing everything from the table and wiping all the oil off). While doing so one of the servers removed my husband’s silverware and forgot to replace it. When our food arrived it took some doing to flag someone down to get the silverware replaced. He ordered a glass of wine to accompany his dinner and it seemed to have been forgotten (it did finally arrive after asking the server again). None of these were major problems and since the hotel has only been open for 8 days, the service should continue to improve. All the staff members we encountered were very friendly and welcoming. It’s a very unique space and seems like a great addition to the area. I recommend a visit!
