Great first tour of Japan. With a relatively small group involved, Nathan manages to cover a lot of ground while still being able to cater for individual tastes and preferences. He cares about every person in the group and wants you to enjoy Japan as much as he obviously does. It would be difficult to imagine a better set of experiences to cover as an introduction, with the people, culture, food and so many sights. As the website says, you need to be fairly fit to tackle the tour and some additional downtime wouldn’t go wrong. In summary, however, absolutely no hesitation in recommending The Japan Tour Company to any potential visitors.

We booked our self-guided honeymoon to Japan through The Japan Tour Company, and planning was a breeze from the get-go thanks to Nathan.
We squared away dates and key spots we wanted to check out after a 1:1 with him, and he put it all together in an easy to follow itinerary with handy map links to hotels he booked, food spots, landmarks, train stations, etc.
His knowledge of the public transportation was vital to learn ahead of time, making travel to each destination easier and less costly than cabbing it.
Knowing it was a honeymoon trip, he was able to get us an extra day at a ryokan in Hakone with a private onsen. It was beautiful and a great experience. We’d love to go back there in cooler temps one day.
We are saving up to go back to Japan ASAP, especially to return to my childhood home in the Sapporo area, and will book through the Japan Company Tour.

I was the only Australian on Nathan's Cherry Blossom Japan tour (The Japan Tour Company). Nathan communicated regularly and clearly for months before the trip to ensure all paperwork etc was completed and that I was fully informed and prepared for the trip. He went over and above what was required of a tour guide before, during and after the trip, to ensure I was safe when travelling with the group or by myself around Japan. He also ensured that I was given every opportunity to participate in unforgetable activities/experiences. My Japan trip exceeded all my expectations. I feel blessed to have chosen Nathan's The Japan Tour Company for my Japanese holiday experience and would love to travel back to Japan in the Autumn season with Nathan's - The Japan Tour Company. Nothing was too much trouble for Nathan. I highly recommend anyone including Australians to join Nathan's tours.

My son and I are extremely grateful to Nathan and The Japan Tour Company for a wonderful trip to Japan. The self guided tour was well thought out and everything we hoped for in providing us something to follow and yet allowing us the freedom to explore on our own. A high quality experience from start to finish. Just bring some good tennis shoes and hope your pointer finger doesn't break from taking too many incredible pictures.

Amazing experience for a first time Japan trip. We had the 11 night self guided anime tour for 7 people and organized by Nate. Nate was a pleasure to work with as he put together a fully packed itinerary for the 7 nights. Visiting all the Japan hotspots like Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka with many activities in all the cities. As well as a relaxing Onsen retreat. If you are traveling to Japan for the first time, I highly recommend this service. Everything is easy to follow in the itinerary with all the travel and accommodation info as well as packed full of links to all travel destinations. Nate was very helpful with any questions we had and would check to make sure all was well. Thank you for the experience and highly recommend to anyone for their first Japan trip.

We had a wonderful Blazing Autumn Tour experience with The Japan Tour Company! If you want to see a lot of Japan without worrying about how to get around or what the best things to do are, TJTC is a fantastic option for you to consider. We were a group of only six people (including Nathan, the tour operator) and we saw Tokyo, Hakone, Kyoto, Osaka, Hiroshima/Itsukushima, Nara and Enoshima over 12 days. So we saw a lot, walked a lot, and enjoyed a lot in a relatively short amount of time. One of the things that made it so great was Nathan’s constant, reassuring guidance and wonderful personality. Japan can be a hard place for travelers to navigate; Nathan made it easy. All of the accommodations he selected for us (including a genuine ryokan in Hakone) were perfect. And he made sure we had all sorts of great food experiences. In a nutshell, TJTC will provide you with a truly extensive Japan experience at a cost that is totally worth it.

I found this company just doing a random Google search when looking to go to Japan this year. Great itinerary and prices so I figured let's do it. I definitely do not regret my decision. This tour was amazing and will definitely use them again in the future. We did the Cherry Blossom tour and it was a beautiful time to be there. Nathan was a very knowledgeable guide and a very cool guy to be stuck with on a daily basis. The tour is quite flexible and he was very accommodating to the different needs of the group. This was the perfect tour for my first visit to Japan with the amount of things we saw and experienced. Make sure you bring some comfortable walking shoes because that's all you do in Japan.

We had an amazing time on our once in a lifetime trip to japan! We participated in the Cherry Blossom Tour. When I was first looking for a company to purchase from and asked a question through the Messenger link on the company website I got a response right away. And that was how my experience was from that time forward. For over a year from the time I started looking and then purchased our tickets to when we actually landed, any stupid question or thought I had was met with an immediate thorough response. We were guided through registering with the visitjapan site, getting trip insurance, checking our medications, etc. Our physical limitations and interests were taken into account every step of the way. When anyone on the tour got separated Nathan would get a link to his live location and then go to find someone. If anyone wanted to go somewhere that didn't interest the others he would make sure they could get there or guide them personally. There were very few hiccups and I could not be more pleased with our experience. Thank you for everything Nathan!
