I went on this excursion because my friend had this on her bucket list, really didn’t want to go. I was so glad I did! This was hands down THE best excursion I’ve ever been on in all of my cruise travels. The experience was engaging-right from the moment we entered the property. Patrick was informative and a wonderful start to this amazing visit. His relationship with the wolves was mesmerizing. Then you get to meet The Host, Mr. Kroschel. I was blown away by the depth and breadth of his knowledge and by just how much he truly cares. He wears it like the incredible badge of honor it is. His animals are beautifully housed, the area looking as if it were put together by a mad genius-which it was. I was immediately smitten. With all of it. Lock, stock and barrel, as my Gram used to say. The time seemed to be over in a blink and I was sad and reluctant to leave. The connection you felt coming from him; connection to his animals, his surroundings and his guests was laser sharp and awe-inspiring to witness-that’s how I felt-I was witnessing true genius and great heart. I left a grateful woman.

I LOVED this place, and if you're an animal lover, you will as well. Steve was great and made the tour fun & interactive. It's definitely a better environment than a zoo, but that also removes a level of safety for kids and dumb people lol. I hope Steve is able to keep living his dream of caring for animals in a natural environment for many years to come.
If your ship excursion is full, I *think* chillkat tours is who you can call, or get ahold of the center and they'll link you up.

Steve is a knowledgeable host that clearly has a close bond with his animals. Patrick really made my visit so memorable, making sure my sister, son & his fiance and I had one on one time with the animals. I wish I would have gotten a photo with him. I wanted to stay in one of their cabins and never leave. I look at my photos every day. The porcupine was my favorite. And I'm from there, not even a tourist. I returned to Seattle and still think about The Wildlife Center every day.

If you can get to Haines, this is a must-visit. Up close experiences with animals you won't get anywhere else. Steve is one-of-a-kind. The Willy Wonka of Alaskan wildlife.

We had such a great day at the Center. Mr. Kroschel was a great story teller of the animals. We learned so much and enjoyed each and every animal we were able to see. Our bus driver, was excellent. She told us so many local stories and helped us spot wildlife along the way. If you are not sure if you should do this tour or another. Choose this one. You will be happy you did.

I would give this 6 stars if I could. We went as part of a cruise ship excursion and everything was amazing from the bus driver to everyone working there. The animals were well cared for and we got amazing photos. We had a 2 year old with us and you will need to watch kids closely as these are wild animals (no fingers in fences!). Like others said it was a decent amount of walking on dirt paths and not stroller friendly. There was a gift shop at the end. There were also a couple of bathrooms.

Interesting place where it is obvious that there is much love and care for the animals here. Informative tour overall.
The only downfall is that the tour group was too large so it made it uncomfortable to stand around and wait your turn to see the animals. I think that our tour could have been split into 2 groups instead of one large one.
The bus ride from the cruise port was great. The bus driver was EXTREMELY interesting and full of fun stories. The bus ride to and from the Kroschel Wildlife Centre was one of our most favorite bus rides in all of the tours we have taken... and we take A LOT!!!
