We had our ceremony and wedding reception back in March and highly recommend this venue. Not only is it breathtakingly beautiful, but was so easy to work with. Our guests raved about the food, service and everyone had an amazing night. We had great communication with our day of coordinator and in the meetings and emails leading up to our wedding. Our day of attendant was also so kind and considerate, making sure my husband and I were eating and always had a drink in hand. We wish we could relive this day, thank you to the team at The Society Room for an amazing day! If you’re considering, book!

An Unforgettable Experience at The Society Room in West Hartford

I recently had the immense pleasure of attending a corporate outing at The Society Room in West Hartford, Connecticut, and it was nothing short of extraordinary. Having never visited West Hartford before, I wasn’t sure what to expect, especially on a cold and rainy evening. However, from the moment I arrived, I was transported into a world of elegance and grandeur that far exceeded any expectations.

At first glance, the building’s exterior resembles an old brick warehouse, giving little hint of the opulence inside. But as soon as I stepped through the doors, I was greeted by a luxurious red carpet underfoot and warmly welcomed by two attendants offering champagne and water. This immediate touch of sophistication set the tone for the evening. Just a few steps further, I checked in my coat and umbrella and continued along another plush red carpet that led past a gorgeous fireplace adorned with our company’s banner and logo.

The interior is nothing short of breathtaking. A stunning mahogany oak bar greets you as you enter, exuding warmth and class. There’s an additional bar and an open social area surrounding the main event space, perfect for mingling and networking. One of the most captivating features is the old-fashioned bank vault—a nod to the building’s history as a former bank. The walls are adorned with fascinating photographs from the 1800s and 1900s, offering a glimpse into the past and adding a rich historical context to the venue. The bank vault door and room provided an incredible backdrop for photos, which we eagerly shared on social media to capture the unique charm of the place.

After enjoying delectable hors d’oeuvres and expertly crafted drinks, we proceeded into the main Society Room for the highlight of the evening: a fashion show runway event. The setup was impeccable—chairs elegantly lined along the aisle, a grand stage with a DJ, and yet another bar at the front. The room itself is awe-inspiring, boasting towering 30 to 40-foot ceilings adorned with intricate gold leaf decorations on the ceiling and trim. Every detail, from the custom-designed walls to the polished floors, exudes luxury and meticulous attention to detail.

The primary event space is split into two levels. The lower level is ideal for weddings, runway events, or corporate gatherings, while the upstairs features a beautiful staircase leading to additional seating areas complete with tablecloths and exquisite centerpiece settings. The chandeliers suspended from the high ceilings are simply magnificent, casting a warm and inviting glow that enhances the room’s grandeur.

What truly sets The Society Room apart is not just its stunning architecture and decor but the exceptional service. The venue is impeccably maintained, showing no signs of wear or tear. Every staff member we encountered was incredibly kind, attentive, and genuinely invested in making our experience unforgettable. Their professionalism and servant-heartedness elevated the entire event.

I cannot recommend The Society Room highly enough for any company, corporation, or couple seeking an upscale venue for a special event. Whether it’s a wedding, corporate function, or any grand celebration, this place delivers an unparalleled experience on every front. My time in West Hartford was made truly special thanks to this remarkable venue, and I eagerly look forward to returning in the future.

Came for the Haunted Tavern with a group of friends. Spooky stories surrounding the Durham area told by some pretty quirky individuals. We were greeted with the poison Apple martini and enjoyed the show while sipping on the bloodsucker. The killer coconut was my favorite! The haunted Taverntini was thankfully last, but the creamy peanut buttery and chocolate mix was the perfect dessert drink.

The drinks were by far the best thing. I'm not sure if the crowd found the stories amusing because of the alcohol, but this was not the paranormal mostly stories I had in mind. This was more of a series of unfortunate events that were told throughout the show.

The Society Room was phenomenal in helping me plan my wedding. When you look at their packages, you'll find them to be very reasonable. One common complaint at weddings is the food quality, but not at The Society Room. Everyone at our wedding raved about how delicious the hors d'oeuvres and meals were. My experience with The Society Room was excellent. They were incredibly accommodating, and any issues that arose were resolved quickly. I am truly grateful to them for making my special day a memorable one. It was a dream come true.

We got married there this past Friday 10/11/2024 everything was amazing! Linda was amazing throughout our whole wedding planning process, our wedding coordinators made sure everything ran smoothly the day of, and our wedding attendant day of was amazing! We had so many guests tell us it was the best meals they’ve ever had at a wedding. Our cake by Donna was beautiful and delicious! We are truly so thankful for all of the staff at the society room you guys made our wedding day more magical than I ever could have imagined.

We cannot say enough good things about Society Room. The ballroom and mezzanine were absolutely stunning for our winter wedding. There is such a “wow factor” at SR that you don’t get in a traditional wedding ballroom or tent. SO many of our guests came up to us to ask how we found SR and to say how blown away they were when they walked in. It is gorgeous!! The food was also exceptional. Our guests continue to rave about the braised beef short rib and scallop entrees we had. My husband and I are foodies and had high hopes, and the food absolutely beat our expectations! Lastly, the employees at SR are incredible. There wasn’t a single time where I was concerned about things going smoothly the day of. I felt so well taken care of and in the hands of professionals the entire time. Jonna was our bride & groom attendant the day of and was amazing!! We were making our rounds saying hello to tables when dinner was coming out and she made sure to check in with us and have our dinner brought out once we were back at our table so it was hot. She always made sure we had a drink, and she made sure we knew where we had to be and when for intros. Everyone we worked with was professional, friendly, kind, and attentive. We would do it all over again exactly the same way. AND it’s reasonably priced for what an impression it makes. We couldn’t be happier with our choice to have our reception here!

We attended my Sister's wedding at this beautiful location. The interior is picturesque! From the time you enter into the time we left, the staff was just phenomenal. Desmond, Felicia and the rest of the staff, all did a wonderful job, too make this occasion spectacular.
And the food, wow, special menu was very delicious. Fantastic service 👏🏽 👏🏽

I've been back here twice this wedding season and it's as great as it was the last time! Here's my old review...

As a Connecticut wedding photographer, The Society Room of Hartford may be my favorite venue yet. The dark, moody, Gatsby-like elegance of this wedding venue is just awesome. It's absolutely stunning here! On top of that, Paula and the staff are wonderful and very accommodating.

The parking garages and lots on Pratt and Asylum make things convenient for guests and vendors alike (but watch out for validation; best to ask The Society Room which lot they're supporting before you attend an event).

Bonus tip: Planning your wedding here? Make sure that your wedding photographer knows how to use light properly!
