This is an updated budget hotel with no valet and self parking that fills up (and you must park in street). The rooms are a nice size but old style and worn. I confirmed a 3rd floor room with balcony and ocean view and got a second floor room over the parking lot. The pool and jacuzzi are not clean and is nestled in a busy corner street. |There was only one person at the desk and no other employees visible. I would consider another alternative next time.

I have to say that the location was very good, not too far from a vast assortment of restaurants. |Not to get too lengthy here, but the biggest problem this hotel has is it understaffed terribly the staff that’s there worked so hard to do their absolute best. I have to give them.|After speaking with several other guests, it appears as though this is a private property not owned by a corporation or group and individual or individuals Should not be in the Lodging business! |The rooms, even though stated newly remodeled, were terribly outdated we found feces on the very old sofa chair. The carpet was sticky. The air conditioning unit had to be at least 25 years old. I will say the bathroom or I should say the shower area was very good and newly remodeled.|The biggest take away if you have an issue at all, it will be next to impossible to get somebody to answer the phone or assist anyway there are no service maintenance technicians on property the entire time of my day, which was three days

Positive: the hotel manager is extremely courteous and kind. Very good service overall. We are returning on September 9th and 10th for another stay at the Volare! ; ) Negative: Only the fact that there is no continental breakfast offered, and the jacuzzi was not functioning the last time I stayed there.

I had an excellent stay at the Volare during Memorial Day 2024! The best part of the hotel is the location- you're only about 3 minutes drive from the beach or you're right near a free trolley that can take you to & from the beach. The beach was amazing and there are tons of cheap places to eat right across the road. We loved the hotel too- though it had an expensive vending machine and there were parts that were a bit holder, the front desk service was excellent, and the room was very clean and tidy. The bed was also super comfy with soft linens, and for a standard room it was super spacious (we had a whole second area that was a living room). Plus, bonus points for the pool and hot tub. I would absolutely stay here again and we had a great stay. Highly recommend!

Visiting family that leaves near San Clemente. Knew it was close to the freeway, so we asked for an ocean view room. Glad we did as I would expect the freeway side to be loud. Room was large and clean. We were very comfortable. Air conditioning unit was very loud. Hotel seemed quiet enough; although we could hear noise. . .perhaps from neighboring air conditioner? but not enough to disturb sleep. Parking is first come first serve but we never had an issue finding a spot. Location is very convenient to Del Mar and all the shops and restaurants. We walked to dinner, breakfast, and down Del Mar to beach. Stayed two nights. Did not use the pool. Eat at Antoine's cafe (breakfast and lunch only)--you won't be disappointed.

Disappointing. I asked myself, if I was an employee there would I be proud the hand over a key to a guest? The answer is no. First thing I noticed were pieces of wall missing from behind the counter when you check in. This was followed by a dirty elevator floor. As you walk to your room it’s hard not to notice the scuffed up walls and mismatched paint as an attempt to cover up some defects in the hallways. Hallway carpet is old but perhaps the room is better? Nope. We tried two rooms as the first one had a mechanical issue and we were moved to a new one within 10 minutes. The safes in both rooms were broken. Both small benches in each room had stains as did the ceilings and walls. The rooms themselves have potential, however, the brown wallpaper and dark carpet mixed with dark furniture make it very depressing. Couple that with the stains and you have a disappointing hotel. Recommendations: have an enclosed entertainment center, get rid of the stains, use correctly matched paint, and replace the dark walls with a brighter color. Consider a theme as the current theme is brown. On the plus side, the bathrooms were nice and bed and beds were comfortable. If it wasn’t for my non-refundable reservation, I would have left. In its current state, I would pay no more than $60 a weekday night or $70 a weekend stay. That would be a reasonable value for what is offered.

The Staff is so kind and accommodating. Savanna and Jose made sure that our wedding block and all the details were perfect. The location was so convenient to fun and walkable San Clemente. It was close to our venue and everyone was able to move around and experience a SoCal beach town as it should be. The hotel is doing some lovely renovations and the updated rooms are perfect. Ocean view is great, the only downside is the non ocean view rooms gave the guest directly, not a plus. We would stay here again on vacation because of the great staff, updated rooms and fantastic location!
