My husband was a terminal cancer patient. We dealt with 3 hospice nurses. One of which was his every week nurse. The other two were nurses who needed to provide care on an emergency basis. The nurse that was his every week nurse was very scattered. She did not provide good information or services. She changed the day of her visit and never informed us, she couldn’t remember to bring the necessary underwear support for him and i had to ask for a hospital bed. She didn’t even offer to produce a commode for him. The “emergency” nurses were wonderful. They were the ones that actually told me what to do. The regular nurse insisted on giving him a suppository on the day of his dearth. He was in so much pain and she would not listen to me asking her to leave him alone. I would recommend the other 2 nurses any time but I feel his regular nurse needs to have more compassion and better inform her patients.

My mother was with Vitas hospice for the last 24 hours of her life. The nurse with her for the first 10 hours/intake process made those hours miserable for her and her family. We were looking for help to ease her passing and it was worse as a result of Vitas.

Horrible, horrible experience with this terrible "healthcare" company, if you could even call it that. All of the in-home nurses are ghetto, lazy and unprofessional and have no business taking care of the elderly/terminally ill. There are many other local hospice companies to consider before going to these folks.
