This is in reference to the WorldMark portion of the resort - not the hotel.

We had a 2-bedroom suite with kitchen. The unit had gas-powered heat but no AC - fortunately, the weather was cool and we didn't require it, but I imagine during the height of the summer it might be difficult to cool down.

Overall layout is somewhat cramped - because of the Murphy bed in the living/dining area, there's very little room for eating and it was difficult to serve diners sitting there.

Unlike the last time we were here, back in the 1990s, we had no view.

The best bits were:

1) kitchen has a gas stove and oven (we have a gas range at my home also) - it is much easier to cook on gas, at least for us

2) we were immediately adjacent to the pool. This made swimming very accessible and we used the pool and hot tub the entire time.

3) the Marina Dunes State Park is adjacent to the property, which has a private entrance to the beach next to the park. We took advantage of this for beach walking which was brilliant.

4) the on-site restaurant (Salt Wood Kitchen and Oysterette) is very good; we dined there and, thanks to staying at the resort, were treated to a complimentary glass of wine with the meal.

5) the location in general is great:

* Costco is nearby, as are several groceries including an Asian grocery so we were able to get all the food we needed.

* Monterrey is a short drive away; we were able to tour the area, visit the Aquarium, and have a great seafood meal.

* Obviously, the State Park.

Anyway, the stay was great and if one is a WorldMark member, it's well worth the points needed to come here.

Been coming to this location the past 17 years. I used to rate it 5 stars out of 5, but times have changed. The service went downhills since the pandemic.
There was marked difference in service since the Sanctuary Hotel started managing the units.
Attention to detail is no longer there. I guess Sanctuary is NOT as concerned since it is NOT part of their property.

This place was great, the location at the beach was so beautiful. The staff employees were so helpful and very friendly. It is very relaxing and not a lot of people. Would book again. I just loved this our stay. So private

Beautiful beach location and access. Facility is showing its age, but staff do a great job of maintaining a clean and inviting stay.

Stayed here June 2024 and will for sure be back in the future. It's a BEAUTIFUL resort and the amenities are wonderful. I will say like other reviews, the living room is smaller and had we used the Murphy bed, it would have been very tight. So I honestly wouldn't say it sleeps 6 but 4 very comfortably. They have a restaurant on site but we didn't eat there. It looked very nice and upscale so I would totally try it next visit. The pool, hot tub & playground were wonderful and we loved the bonfires that are lite each night on the beach. They have nice chairs overlooking the beach and its way less crowded. Already looking to come back next year

Be very aware of the parking area!!!! This Worldmark has severe safety issues!!!!!’ The area has no/low lights. The hotel area has some kind of constructions going on but there are no construction signs/safety barricades. It was late at night when my sister got out from her car to walk toward the unit, she felt into a huge hole. She is almost 5’6” and she was completely all the way in the hole!! The cell phone signal was weak so she had to scream for someone to rescue her. Finally someone from the front desk pulled her out. She called 911 the next day and She was taken to the hospital because of the pain. It tuned out her feet and her arms were fractured. The total bill was $11,000 and she had an out of pocket cost of $3800.

I called and asked the hotel to take my sister home and toll her call back as she was not able to drive. The hotel kept telling me that the manager was not available and won’t be back until the next day. I asked to talk to someone who was in charge. They kept telling me “tomorrow” and said that the manager needs to get a day off too! Excuse me? Isn’t this hotel open 365 days a year? You don’t have a deputy manager or someone in charge during the busy Labor Day weekend?

I can’t believe this is how they treat their hotel guests. They are extremely irresponsible and ill prepared, not to mention about the unprofessional attitude on the phone. . They are not prepared for any kind of emergency situations. The only good thing is someone did go to pick up my sister from the hospital after I called. This is the worst Worldmark!!!

My family and I had a pretty smooth check-in. The rooms were nice and cozy with a built in fire place and a murphy bed for convenience. The only zong for the rooms are the small tvs installed. However, check out is another story. I call the evening before we checked out to ask for a late check out and was told to call back in the morningat 8 AM to see if they would allow it. Fast forward, the next morning I called and the morning staff stated that we already have five guest checking out late and I'd have to check out at 10:30. So you allowed the other five guest the oppurtunity, but not my family a late check out.. Then, the young later pretended that she was doing me a favor by telling me 10:00 AM is the regular check out and you have until 10:30 AM to vacate the room. I should have bee afforded a late check out like your other five guest especially with the amount of money I've paid for my timeshare. Sunsets are beautiful here, and love the fire pits. I didn't particulary care for all the dogs running around the beach loose or the dog feces being left on the beach. Also there is public access beach right up the street from the resort that allows a lot of transients in the area to fish and camp-out. Leaving their trash on the beach.
