Our experience could not have been any better! We went on the half day trip with a group of 12. Booking & check in were a breeze. Customer service and each person we came into contact with were top notch! We were so glad we got Amanda as our guide. She was beyond knowledgable and made the experience a 10/10. We will definitely be back! If you are on the fence… just say yes! This is was by far our favorite experience we had in the Tahoe area!

We loved it. The tour guides are amazing. Amanda was our tour guide for both trips. She explained everything, knowledgeable on rafting. We did trusted her. I would do it again with her. Very lay back while in the slow areas. In the harder areas she was amazing and fast.

Ever wondered why this one has all 5 start reviews? Because they are worth 5 stars and nothing less. Few weeks back we took their south fork American river upper section and last week took the lower section (hospital bar) and each time it was great experience. They are friendly, courteous and make your trip hassle free. We did have change requests last minute and they did their best to accommodate us. The guides, sierra and Raven were absolute gems. They knew the river well and were able to all curious questions from my party, which included kids. They have great location next to the river and if you are taking the morning trip and need a come in the night before, you can camp in their campground for a fee. Or you can even rent their cabin. The restrooms and showers were clean.

Tributary was legendary.
Great Route and great camping accommodations. Can’t recommend the yurt setups enough, great value.
Tour guides were excellent. We had Gabi who was a real champion; Nacho and Gregor were great as well
Definitely recommend for bachelor party but awesome for families too.

Spectacular job! We easily booked South Fork Lower Gorge half day for a large group the week before our trip. We came from South Lake Tahoe and were running very late due to an accident. They were kind enough to wait for us (an hour!). Once we got there, we got our helmets and life jackets and walked down to the rafts. We had 3 rafts waiting for us and dipped in the river beforehand as it was July and over 100°. We had some rules explained to us and then jumped on with our individual leaders. Ella was very nice with us. Very good at explaining and communicating what was coming up beforehand so we were prepared. We had ages 7-63 and all did well on these class 2-3 rapids. We had enough people that the littlest ones did not have to paddle and it didn’t slow us down as it’s not a difficult run. We were also able to jump in at certain areas to cool down. You will definitely get wet! Bring water shoes, sunscreen, water bottle, sunglasses, and baseball cap to put under the helmet. It is hot! They will have a bag to put your stuff in on the raft but it is not waterproof. I’d suggest bringing a waterproof clear phone bag, if you want to take it.
Unfortunately we were too late to get our pictures taken by their photographer but the crew was kind enough to take group photos of us.

I cannot recommend the 2-day Middle Fork trip enough!
To start, Jessica was incredibly responsive and helpful in planning my mid-week post-labor day trip. She was able to pull the release schedule months ahead of time to make sure the river levels would be adequate for our trip. Communication ahead of the trip was stellar and helped everyone in our group feel prepared.
As far as the trip itself, Chris was an amazing guide. He shared history of the area, taught us a little of hydrology, and was great company for two days. We were fortunate enough to have other guides along for the trip. Every one of them were friendly, fun, and extremely helpful during our time at camp.
Food was excellent and it was such bliss to spend time with great people and then sleep under the stars. This trip converted all 6 of us into rafting enthusiasts who are already planning our trip next year.

If you would like the absolute best Middle Fork of the American River trip please request Guide Nate from Tributary Whitewater Tours. He is an absolute expert at the river and made the day fun and safe with his expertise of navigating the rapids and knowledge of natural history. The tributary crew works tirelessly to make sure your trip is flawless from the meeting place, transportation to launch, safety talk, lunch prep/service, right back to the parking area. I will absolutely books trips with tributary in the future!

Jessica was a pro at organizing our large group and was very helpful and friendly the whole weekend. We had Sierra as a guide. It was some people's first time but she was very reassuring. Her knowledge of the river and the area was fasinating. I loved learning about the names and ecological features. She had us try "surfing" and splashed us, just for fun, depending on which side of the raft was dry. She definitely enjoys her job and I would love to do another trip with her and Tributary. Thank you so much!
