15/10 recommend. My mom and I went on the 8 hour trip with Captain Delaney & Mark on 11/9/24 out of Newport Beach. We saw 6-7 whales total and about 500+ dolphins at sunset. Both Mark and Delaney were super knowledgeable about the whales and wildlife we were able to see up close and personal. A truly unforgettable day & incredible experience, we hope to come back and have similar luck again!

Capn. Alex was welcoming, outgoing and friendly. He helped another couple who had showed up at the wrong dock while still getting our boat ready, and put us on the water on-time. We booked the 6 seat Zodiak for the seasonal sunset cruise and had a blast just wave running to the first whale, a juvenile humpback. Awesome! After that we ran with pods of hundreds of dolphins as they swam alongside and under our bow. Incredible. Sea lions in the open ocean as well as lounging on boats and buoys, up close and great photo ops. Some seals and birding to round it all out. Ran back in as the sun was setting, for an epic ending to a wonderful trip. Capn. Alex was informative, laid back and a very comfortable guide. We'll be back, and will asking for him again.

I live in San Diego and one of my close friends called me up asking if I wanted to go on a small boat whale watching trip out of Newport Beach with him back in 2019. Of course I said YES!!! I can never thank him enough for introducing me to one of my favorite outdoor activities that has become a passion.

I have been on many trips on the water with Pacific Offshore since then and every outing is truly incredible. My favorite style of trip are the private charters! We regularly go out on 4 hour & 8 hour private charter trips which are the coolest outdoor experience in SoCal in my opinion. You have the whole boat to yourself and your group and get a personalized experience like no other.

I have seen so many whales with Pacific Offshore to even keep track of including: gray whales, blue whales, humpbacks, minke, fin, Bryde’s whales. Along with common dolphins, pacific white sides dolphins, Bottlenose dolphins, Risso’s dolphins, flying fish, fur seals, sea lions, mola mola, blue sharks and all the marine life in the water and air you can imagine. Oh I can’t forget OC’s favorite dolphin star, Patches, the leucistic bottlenose dolphin! He has the most unique coloring and is frequently seen in/around OC - look out for him! The whales & dolphins come right along the side of the boat sometimes and being at water level right next to them is magical!

I have taken so many people on trips with me since I was introduced to Newport Coastal Adventure and it’s the best outdoor activity ever. Ryan (the owner) has truly created the best whale watching experience in SoCal and I appreciate that so much. He is extremely knowledgeable, passionate, dedicated & truly loves what he does - and that shows in the company, employees & entire experience. I would highly recommend going on a trip with them - send it and do an 8-hour to Catalina! You will NOT regret it ?

It was awesome!! We saw hundreds dolphins, unfortunately just one small milky whale on few seconds but definitely I can recommend this adventure and I'll be back.

Booked a private tour for six. That's the way to go. Good view from everywhere in the boat. Loved the tour! Inflatable we rode on was so much fun as we sped across the ocean. While no whales (knew it wasn't a great time of year for them) we saw lots of dolphins, seals and sea lions. Thanks to the constant contact between our captain, Alex and the other captains, they were able to identify the best sighting places and Capt. Alex was able to get us there in a flash. At one point, we were surrounded by dolphins as they were swimming next to our boat. Very cool! Alex was very friendly and knowledgeable and answered all of our many questions. Great job Capt. Alex! If ever in the area again, we will definitely book another tour with this company and recommend them highly.

My family and I went on a private excursion with Captain Ryan and had a fabulous time! We had hoped to see a whale but they decided to remain shy for the day so instead we saw a ton of dolphins with their babies and sea lions. It was such a beautiful day on the water and Captain Ryan was very knowledgeable and entertaining. He educated us with clues of what to be on the look for, the type of Dolphins we saw and gave us a tour of the beautiful coast line. I highly recommend booking with Newport Ocean Excursions!

Our tour was absolutely amazing!!! Alex did a great job getting us around- we saw several hundred dolphins, a few bottlenose dolphins, a humpback whale, a blue whale, seals and sea lions. He was so knowledgeable and fun it was by far our favorite part of vacation. Thanks Alex!!!!!
