Great new addition to the city, information center for the area, almost kind of like a museum, they have a few displays up and a lot of information on other places. Brochures, maps, reading materials, etc. Virtual experience area, tables, couch. Nice place to take a break if your in Ridgecrest. Seems kid friendly. friendly staff too.

Proximity to main road. Plenty of parking in a commercial center. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Unique oculus virtual reality experience of the Death Valley. They even had a world premiere for Top Gun Maverick

Checked out this Welcome center just out of curiosity. They had video displays of local history of the surrounding area, including the nearby Navy base. Informational posters on wildlife, and native American history. There was a cool VR headset display that played a short video on some of the local attractions. They have a lot of brochures and magazines on what to see in California, including maps. This is not a museum, just basic information for visiting tourists, probably heading out to Death Valley.

I was told they don't get as many visitors since they moved to this new location. Apparently, the tour busses won't stop there because there are no nearby restaurants. The old location was near Denny's. That's a shame because there is a lot of information for visiting tourists. They also sell souvenirs, books, and clothing items.

We had seen signs for California Welcome Centers as we drove across the state. We attended an event at this one, and found it a nice information center about the Ridgecrest area and the local Navy base. Worth a fifteen-minute visit at least; buy a t-shirt.
