I arrived a half hour late to a birthday party event planned for a 2 year old that was supposed to be organized and set up by Margaret Dawson otherwise known as "Parties by Mijae." Upon arrival I noticed that the guests were hurriedly trying to help get the party set up. The host was very upset by the lack of commitment by Margaret but still tried to make the best of the situation. About an hour into the party the host explained to me that she had to leave to pick up a cake and had left a large deposit however nothing was delivered as promised. A professional business should have done better. In the end a follow up after the event should have been done and her clients complaint should have been taken into consideration. The cake not provided as promised should have been refunded and a steep discount should have occurred considering all the stress this caused. What a disappointment.

It is disheartening to share that after arriving at a friend's grandson's birthday party, I found myself helping her for the next 3 1/2 hours after she paid for a service. We set up the food station, game stations, backdrops, blew up mylar balloons with helium, and all. I had no idea that everything was supposed to be done by Parties by Mijae. I decided to write a review because I genuinely believed the owner would make this right, but she has not. In addition, she did not deliver the birthday cake that was ordered and has not answered to refund any portion of the original cost ($900.00). Overall, the concerns are :
Poor customer service and being insensitive to the customer's basic needs.
Poor decorations.
Party was delayed by two hours.
Balloons and backdrop set-up.
Parties by Mijae never delivered the cake (and still will not provide a refund).
No remorse or compassion for the hurt her unprofessionalism caused to the customer.
We all make mistakes, but I encouraged business owners to make it right, especially Black business owners. We want you to be successful, but unfortunately, it has resorted to being honest. Would you please reconsider reaching out to rectify the situation? Thank you.

Long story short I'm asking your assistant in obtaining the money owed based on the fraudulent claims of the party planner Margaret Dawson. Margaret Dawson
was hired to plan and facilitate a grandsons 2nd birthday party. She was paid $1000.00 up front. Margaret Dawson of Parties by Mijae did not do as promised. A special cake was ordered. Margaret Dawson did not plan or gave nothing that was paid or asked for. The party was horrible. Margaret Dawson od Parties by Mijae was not on time , organized or had anything completed. Everything was paid for upfront.

Marjorie Dawson did not help with the party at all.. none of the expected decorations were provided. We had to help her with everything. like get the generator, blow up balloons, set up decorations....Really and we paid $1000.00.
Majorie Dawson od Parties by Mijae was not at the party to coordinate the events and when she did show up she didn't have the cake. Marjarie said the cake melted in the car. No evidence was provided that the cake was ever made. Marjorie Dawson od Parties by Mijae also had a horrible attitude. Margaret has been avoiding refunding the $100 for the cake. At this point it is about the principal. Margaret was hired by a good understanding person that would have simply allowed her to keep the money had she been honest. Margaret Dawson is very unprofessional . Tried to support a black business owner. Sorry to report that this was an epic failure . Others should be aware to avoid business dealings with her

Save your money and plan your own parties.

I hired Margaret Dawson of Parties By Mijae in Fresno, Ca to do a balloon backdrop and custom cake in August 2021. I chose her based on the positive reviews and pictures of cakes she claimed she had done. The day of the party, she was unorganized and unprofessional. Ms Dawson was either not aware of timing or she didn't care. She didn't even know where she put the supplies she brought.

The morning of the party she asked me to take the supplies in my vehicle as she didn't have a truck. This was unexpected and inconvenient since my family was trying to get ready for the party which should have been set up. I still don't understand how a party rental supply operates without a truck to deliver products.

As time for the party got closer nothing was set up. She expected my guests to blow up balloons and conduct set up of the event that she had been paid to do. I was told I had to also rent other stuff like a nacho machine, hot dog machine and she "threw in" a goldfish game that I paid for the fish.

She disappeared multiple times during the event leaving with us, her underaged son to figure out where things were and im guessing to run games. He looked confused and disinterested.

I was promised a custom cake which she swore she could do, to be received the night before the event. When it was time for the cake, no cake, no Margaret. I had to call her multiple times and kept getting excuses. When she finally showed up no cake. Not even a store bought cake was presented. We where told the cake "melted in the trunk". Not one picture or any proof of a cake was presented to me the paying customer. She presented an attitude as if she was upset with us and the party. No apology she began breaking down equipment without a word. She even took it upon herself to give away the goldfish I paid for without discussing it with me first. Totally unacceptable.

I worked with her with this issue for over 2 months. Its now October and I still have not been offered the return of the cake money. Not to mention we didn't get ANYTHING she she agreed to provide. She claims she sent the refund but I have never received it to this day. She refuses to contact Square pay to clear up the issue.

The sad part is I had enough time to actually order a cake from a bakery had she just been honest. I was charged over $900 and at this point all I am requesting is the refund of the cake promised yet she refuses. I was turned less than $300 for a generator and gas which we had to pick up and was never used. Also a few balloons, which she refuses to return the remainder of balloons I purchased.

I'm saddened by her lack of business ethics and disappointed in the party I had envisioned and never received.

Margaret made the most beautiful cake for my wedding and it was one of the highlights of the day. The cake told our story and was creative and heartfelt.

I recently attended a wedding with a cake from this company. Not only was the design of the cake absolutely beautiful, it tasted amazing! I would highly recommend for anyways needing a cake for any celebration!

You will not regret renting from parties by Mijae. This is the best party rental business I have ever encountered. Very professional, good quality, very punctual. I will not go to anyone else ever again. Very affordable! ♥️♥️♥️
