If you like old original rustic buildings you should like this place. Rooms are not remodeled or updated they are rustic. Rooms do have private bathrooms. The price was reasonable, breakfast was great and included with the cost of the room.
I would stay again.

The only reason I would give four stars instead of five is because of the age of the facility. The rooms are wonderfully frozen-in-time and perfectly clean, but the sink, shower and toilet are a bit tired due to their age.

I absolutely love this frozen-in-time atmosphere. It's like visiting grandparents in the mountains.

We had a great experience staying at the Stoney Brook Inn B&B.

It is in the perfect location. You can walk outside and enjoy nature or follow the train tracks to take an adventure. It sits in a small town but still has places nearby to dine or shop.

Ms. Hiromi is amazing. I am not sure how she does it but she provides five star service while running this bed and breakfast. In the morning you will have a delicious meal delivered to your door. There is a community room downstairs to hang out. The only thing I would suggest is an upgraded coffee/tea area.

The room was spacious. We stayed in the queen with couch, bathroom and kitchenette. The bathroom was cozy. I would consider upgrading the TV, eletrical and heating. I wasn't to fond of the decor over the bed and the rooms could use a dusting.

I didn't really get a feeling of any theme or Japanese style. It was comfortable but felt like a historic building with standard '90s renovation; rug, furniture, décor etc. That's not a bad thing, it is what it is and has potential.

I am giving it five stars because we knew what it was. A local business, historic bed and breakfast, in a great location with an amazing owner. You really cannot beat the location, price and breakfast. There are modern hotels to stay at which don't take the guest experience into account, here you will have warm service with spectacular views. Anyone scrolling through to see the excellent reviews and consider staying here.

This is little cozy B&B in a quiet town with super nice Japanese owner. The building is a bit old but facilities are well maintained. We stayed in a room with full kitchen and big fridge + 2 beds and it was spacious and comfortable. Breakfast made by Hiromi is very delicious with local ingredients along with her home made jam etc.
The area is very quiet, and the hotel is standing right next to old rail track which is pretty nostalgic. You would feel like you are back home in your childhood...
The owner and staffs are kind enough to tell you what to see and where to go with most updated info about nature, flowers, waterfalls etc.
Meanwhile whole hotel is covered with mesh wifi with reasonably fast internet connection so you have no frustration either.

A lovely stay in McCloud. Ms. Hiromi was a very considerate and wonderful host.

The lodging is located in the back of McCloud. One thing I was told right away was to remove any traces of food from my car as there are bears that rummage through the area at night, so keep that in mind. The rooms are a bit old, but warm and cozy. The heater can make the room feel a bit musty, but honestly, didn't detract from my ability to sleep. The sauna is unfortunately closed at the moment. Perhaps it'll be open again when I visit in the future.

Our breakfast was a vegetarian French toast and accompaniments. It was a pleasant morning, most of the guests seem Japanese, which was a bit unexpected, but I suppose this place is kind of like a home away from home to some of them. Large snowy mountain in the background, lots of nature, bears, practically like Akita prefecture.

Highly recommended for couples and solo travelers as they have rooms that accommodate for both.

I took a 3-month solo road trip in 2004 starting from my home in Maryland, and planned to spend a couple of days in Mount Shasta. When I arrived at the Stoney Brook Inn, I felt so much peace that I wound up staying for a week and exploring all there is to do in the area. The owner, Hiromi Suzuki, bought the Inn several years earlier with no savings, no assets, but secured the financing anyway and has run the B&B ever since with a deep sense of service and appreciation for her guests. ||||The following Spring I visited again, and then moved to the Bay Area that fall. I have returned at least once or twice a year ever since then, and there is no place else I would ever stay when in the area. It's close enough to Mount Shasta City, has a view of the mountain, is walking distance to the best burgers ever at Frosty's and has a hot tub and sauna. ||||Most amazingly, the price has never increased - not once! - since 2004. I get no special pricing; the rates are the same for all. There's snacks at check-in, a sumptuous hot and cold breakfast buffet, and a graciousness that can't be purchased with money. Yes, the building is getting a bit run-down, but now that both the Ski Park and the Dinner Train have been closed or gone out of business, it's hard business to keep it going. Please stay here and help keep a good proprietress going!

The Inn is quite old, clean, and appears to have few recent updates. Staff were very friendly. I have been to Japan and there is a Japanese sense of hospitality and spirit. I was invited to view a traditional Japanese dance with live, authentic music in the morning. The hot tub is worn, but sits beneath huge trees that gave it an earthy feel. My first floor room was small, had a private bath, and was fine. Breakfast was good, but not exceptional.

Very kind Japanese hosts, simple, but cozy accommodations, fair prices. My girlfriend and I really liked this place and stayed 2 nights. Contrary to what was written in post from last year, we did not see any cats at all. We enjoyed sauna and hot tub under the stars (though it was not warm enough when we came again the second night).

Breakfast:
They made us vegan french toast one day and pancakes the next! Came with fresh fruit salad, juice, coffee / tea and potatoes.

Was a very good experience.
