I have purchased the Local Girl's Guide to Maui two times!
The first time was in 2012, and I had no idea what was available in Maui for restaurants or things to do. I had no idea where to begin! Fortunately we were using Donna as a travel agent to book the Maui Kai, and we became aware of her guide during that time. Donna's advice saved me both time and money, she only recommends the best of everything. So much so, that I wanted an updated copy when I went back in February 2016. There were many new places and things to try, and once again, the book proved itself to be invaluable. It more than pays for itself in making sure that you have the best Hawaiian experience possible.

The Local Girl's Guide to Maui was SO thorough and had so many great, insider recommendations for making the most of your trip. I'd done a bit of research before purchasing this and was impressed that it included some of the same recommendations as sources I'd consider "food authorities". But hers was so much more helpful because it included tips of when to go, what to order, and more. I went to most places on her food list and agreed with just about everything she said! There was way more in here than we could fit into one trip, so I know this will be helpful when we hopefully start coming to Maui annually! And the fact that she updates it makes me confident it will be a great resource for years to come. Thank you, Donna!

This is such an amazing, thorough guide to Maui! Buy it a few weeks before you travel so that you can highlight places you want to go or foods you'd like to try. The author is adamant about supporting local business so some of the eateries are places you might not explore with out guidance. Pre-vacation, be sure to read up on cultural tips and links to podcasts and resources (helpful to us researching whether Haleakala was open during the government shut-down). Donna gives suggestions for visiting favorite Maui sites and the best beaches for children, with lifeguards and snorkeling. We really appreciated her descriptions of local foods and restaurants! Again, buy this book and read it before you go!

Perfect guide for getting around the island! I'd like to say I'm a good planner, but I'm totally not. Donna's guide was easy to pull out in the morning as we thought about our day, or if we found ourselves in a new part of the island and wanted to know where to go/eat. There is no way I'd have known the amazing food spots without her guide. I can honestly say, best food vacation I've ever had, all thanks to Donna!!

We booked our stay through Donna Bender of Maui Calls. She is amazing! We stayed at the Outrigger Royal Kahana and it was great! We purchased the Local Girl's Guide to Maui and from it's listings found 5 fantastic carryout food places that allowed us to eat all our meals on our balcony watching the sunset each evening. We also used the guide to schedule excursions, plan hikes and choose beaches to visit. It was not only a great help, but saved us money too!
